Thanks for sharing, fingers crossed.
Just got a RX 5700 Mech OC (MSI) happy days
NIce. Yes the 5700 any 2 fans will do it.
I still think the Powercolor is the best looking
RDNA+ LiQuiD Edition
Does Afterburner cause desktop flickering when its active for anyone else?
Oh and whats the normal avg temps for the 5700?
Last time I tried it did, and it was down to the fan control. Anyway, it was my understanding that AfterBurner and Navi weren't getting along well, so maybe consider dropping it if you start seeing instability.
So i have a RX 5700 non XT and i've flashed the xt bios with an artic twin turbo
on dx11 games i can run 2ghz at 1.15v all day long
on dx12 games if i so much as increde +0.05mv the game instantly crashes and i have no idea why
dx12 only works with up to 1.05v that even on stock clocks with a stock bios it crashes
Try not to use any overlay, also clean drivers with DDU and repport back on the dx12 problem.
is their a bios editor for the Navi cards ?
I am planing on swapping out my old faithful R9 290's, and I normally tweak bio's so they idle and undervolt @ lower speeds
Navi is so much different than anything before,,
it has aggressive power saving features on its own and can be undervolted just at the moment wattman doesnt work properly and afterburner causes issues if you use a fan config
Another issue with the drivers and it looks like the OpenCL functionality is affected and has been since launch.
Though with the WX5700 out now there's a good chance of it being fixed and other missing features and supported features getting added to Navi as well for work related tasks and functionality.
Nice! .. 5700 best enthusiast card
Good price and excellent performance plus it should have stabilized a bit more in terms of cost so other than a few specific models it looks like it's getting close to the MSRP again instead of pushing into the 500 USD range or higher.
Software aside when the card is doing it's thing it's doing it really well, good start for RDNA overall really for how the hardware holds up and however the later models will perform and what these might then be priced at.
EDIT: Well the GPU price fluctuation was at least better than the bit currency issues back with Vega and what that did hah.
But AMD also priced it pretty aggressively, guessing the 5900 if that's a thing and if it's also using HBM might be a bit less flexible but there's still the 5800 model if that's also being released.
(5500 might be pushing out Polaris a bit too and leaving room for a 5600 maybe.)
Easy to understand, and not so complicated Mod
20-30 Deg lowered Temps.
I won't lie the 5700 XT tempts me even if switching from a 2070 doesn't make much perf. difference if any.
How's the driver situation now, I've read there were quite some issues a while back? DX12 not working at all in some games etc.
Depends on user.
If You know what You're doing then You should be fine.
19.11.3 is Ok for Navi.
I would keep that 2070. Makes no sense to swap it even of you get the best 5700xt.
Or wait (Use 2070) for Bigger Navi, much more sense IMhO.
Besides, Big Navi w/HBM2 will not cross 699€ (Perf should be at 2080S -> 2080Ti or "maby" even better).
I have some info about this GPU, Yes it's an Monster (450-550mm2).
One of my early leak suggest it's better than Titan RTX (having "only" 16GB HBM2 1.2TB/s)...
Yeah I'll wait I think.
Kind of wish I'd have kept my old 980 Ti until now because the 5700 XT would be a perfect upgrade price-perf.wise.
Sure the 2070 is faster especially in newer games but not a huge leap for the price.
5700 XT would have been a bigger or at least equal jump for less money.
Don't care much for RT atm. Sure Quake 2 looks good but eh
(Not to say RT isn't a big thing in itself and future will be interesting in that respect).
