Really, the Voodoo 1 was like the original Star Wars of video cards. Sure, there have been tremendous improvements, but the impact it had at the time has never been matched.

CGA to EGA: Ooh, nice, 16 colors!

EGA to VGA: Awesome, 256 colors!

VGA to Super VGA: Wow, 64k colors! Higher resolution!

2D Windows accelerators to 3dfx Voodoo: Holy FUUUUUUU...

Long Story Short... Started back in 1994, some of you weren't even born yet.

Trident Vesa 9400 ISA/ 9600 PCI, on first 486 and Pentium, respectively (1mb of EDO ram, no 3D whatsoever, yay!)
Rendition Verité 2100 (Diamond Stealth II S220, 4mb of SGRAM, nice card for the time, on a Pentium MMX 233)
Voodoo 3 3000 TV Out (Miss it!) Used on a Pentium !!! 550
TnT 2 M64 (Pinegroup-now XFX - Still have it) Also on the Pentium !!!
SiS 315 64MB (Elitegroup) Still on Pentium !!!
Geforce 2Ti (Starforce from MSi, still have it) On my Pentium !!! and after on my Athlon XP 2600+
Geforce 5200 (Also from MSi, still have it) Athlon XP
Geforce 6200 (XFX, still have it) Athlon XP
Geforce 8600GT (XFX, still have it, cool design with passive cooler) On an Athlon X2
Geforce 9800GT (XFX, died after a year, crap!) On a Phenom II X4, same mobo as the Atlhlon
ATI/AMD Radeon HD 5670 (MSi, Cyclone version) Same CPU
ATI/AMD Radeon HD 4200 (On my laptop, still in use)
Geforce 560Ti (EVGA FPB, still on use on dad's PC) Same CPU
AMD Radeon R9 290 (from MSi, also died, but was on warranty, RMA successful, got a new card below) (Upgraded Phenom II X4 to X6 1090t, same mobo!)
Geforce GTX 980 (EVGA, Superclocked version) (went from my Phenom II X6 to my current i7 8700)
Geforce RTX 2080... Gainward Phoenix (Completing my i7 8700 rig)

Secondary (dad's) PC also had a Radeon 9600XT (BBA, love it, still have it), a Geforce 6800GT from PNY, excellent card; a S3 Savage 4 (Diamond Stealth 4), Geforce 9500 (can't remember the brand!), and maybe a few others.

Since my old Sega Genesis, my gaming was all the way on PC. Never turned back or was interested on console gaming again!

    Geforce 9800GTX+ 512mb

I had a Geforce 650Ti as a temp card around this time frame somewhere...
Ran 6970x2 in Xfire for a bit but due to crappy case cooling had some issues

    Radeon R9 380 4gb in Xfire
    Radeon Fury 4gb
    Geforce 1080ti (current card)

Cards are crazy expensive. All gimmicks now. Patch cards, autographed cards. Some boxes of cards themselves cost $900 - and you get like 5 cards, but all are autographed and limited. I may or may not have dipped my toe in this hobby 10 years ago or so.

    • Software Rendering (Duke Nukem 3D & Doom days)
    • NVIDIA TNT2 (UT99 / Tactical Ops days)
    • Geforce 3 Ti 500
    • Geforce 6800 GT clocked to Ultra speeds
    • Geforce 7800 GTX
    • Geforce 8800 GTX
    • Geforce 470 GTX
    • Geforce 770 GTX

Geforce 3 / 6800 was right around the days I could start doing weekend & summer work as a student, so my budget kind of grew from then on.

After reading everyone's list I've come to the assumption that nvidia made out during the GTX 2XX days. Seems everyone had a GTX 260 or 280, myself included.
