China will not need a single missle or bullet for that matter to devistate the US...all they have to do is call in our debt.

I love when someone says this, it makes them look so ignorant. No offense to you in particular of course.

China can't call in the debt. Unless they like the idea of tanking the entire world economy (and thus their own), they wouldn't dare. They are being smart about it and waiting for when the dollar is worth a lot more in the future so that they actually get a return on their investment......

China is not to be feared. They are an ally nation to the Western World. We depend on them, they depend on us. They aren't some magical entity that controls everything. People need to stop looking at the world like every country can still stand on its own, this simply isn't the case anymore.

Your 'logical conclusion' is solely based on an unusual looking contrail. There is zero other supporting evidence it was a 'Chinese nuclear missile launched from a Chinese submarine'. Yes, everyone is lying about the lack of radar data or any other signature of a missile launch off the coast.

Oh look ANOTHER missile launch a year ago...oops...

QFT. It is naive to think China will just dump U.S. treasuries, so they sort of hold bargain chips at the negotation table. Don't let the tea party makes you think it is as simple as that. When you owe your bank $1 million, they own you. When you owe your bank $100 million, you own them.

    Actually, that is not true.

China holds 900 Billion of the ~16 Trillion debt, or 6%. All that would happen if they call in the debt is the devalue of the dollar, which hurts China worse. A weak dollar means less purchasing and more exports.

But it would not be the end of the U.S., not by a long shot. Heck, Japan holds more of the U.S. debt.

Yeesh I thought the debt was 12 trillion, then again my figures are a few months old. :wanker:

The danger of China and others calling our debt is not that it will crash our economy. The danger is that once our debt is called we can't get any more loans (or have to pay horrific interest rates). The parties over, time to bury the hookers and pay up. If the government can't spend the 1.5 trillion it spends annually because it can no longer acquire financing. Then yeah the economy will take a solid ass whomp'n.

However, you're right it'd be massively moronic for china to call our debt. They're using our currency to buy up all kinds of infrastructure & natural resources world wide. Plus they wouldn't be able to make any loans against their reserves and thus would find their own financing abilities annihilated.

(Also we'd slap the mother of all tarrifs on 'em for doing that, as would all the other players they annoyed by rocking the boat)
