    Hi,

I decided to make a new thread with some benches I did on my GTX260 for anyone interested. There is alot for review for HD4870 and GTX280, but how does a overclocked gtx260 fair against it. From day one I upped the core to 700 and the shaders to 1500 and left the memory alone. I am going to run it for two weeks on that before really starting to overclock.

There is my benchies (using the pc on the left).

    Benchmark Results:

    XFX GTX260 XXX 700,1500,2300

GRID - Ultra High with High Quality Mod (1680x1050 16xQSAA)
    Frames: 4214 - Time: 75625ms - Avg: 55.722 - Min: 47 - Max: 64

AssassinsCreed_Dx10 Max Quality (1680x1050 Max Ingame AA)
    Frames: 6342 - Time: 104495ms - Avg: 60.692 - Min: 37 - Max: 95

Call of Duty Single Player Max Quality (1680x1050 4xAA Max Filtering)
    Frames: 14170 - Time: 90955ms - Avg: 155.791 - Min: 78 - Max: 196

    Graphics Card Temps:
    Idle: 39C Gaming: 54C 3dMark loop: 63C

Power Consumption (Q9300 @ 3.4Ghz and GPU Overclocked) - Used Zalman controller to measure.

System Idle: 178Watt from AC outlet
    Gaming: 277Watt from AC outlet
3dmark Vantage: 296Watt from AC outlet

I hope this help someone to make the very difficult decision when choosing a gfx card today.

If someone else have gtx 260 (ONLY gtx260) benches post it here to compare.

Thanks man, I've already been leaning to the 260, this just nudges me there closer. Bit of a dilema though, I have a feeling Nvidia within the next few weeks will release an improved, 55mm die shrunk model. So may wait, if I buy sooner it will be an impulse buy. :p

    http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=7518765

Note i have the same card, but the standard edition..

Yesterday i installed xp, because of the driver issues in vita 64, have you got any blue screens or crashes??? because... really... this xp.. is really.. old... LOL

I am running Vista x64 and no blue screen or problems. I will run 3dmark06 later today and post it.

I see that no one is setting their shaders higher that 1580 so I am a bit scared to go higher. If I am finished with the 3dmark06 bench and by balls is big enough I will try a 730 core with vantage.

I am leaving the card on 700/1500/2300 for my everday usage.

Here is my 3dmark 06 score. It seems a bit low for my liking.

I raised the core to 730 and left the shaders on 1500. It does not affect the score that much, but compare the CPU (PhysX) score vs my first post with a 700 core. Remarkable difference. I'll see if I want to run Vantage on a 700core and 1600shaders and see what happens and leave the core and 700 and shaders at 1500 and up the memory to 2400.

But I think that is enought for one day. I don't want to blow the card within the first week I have it.

What driver where you using in Vista? I started getting bsod with my 280 in Mass Effect with 177.66 in Vista64. Went back to 177.41, and it works perfect.

I am also using 177.41 drivers.

OK, I ran vantage with 715/1540/2300 and got P11846 so I am going to stay with 700/1500/2300. If I set the shaders higher that 1550 I get artifacts in vantage or if I set the memory to 2350 vantage crash during benchmarking.

If I leave the shaders on 1500 I can set the memory to 2450 and WOW I now get P11900 in vantage. I am going to try 2600 memory and see if that can get me past 12000. My vantage gpu score is noew 9820. I will settle if my gpu score is above 10000 and my P score above 12000.

    Getting late.. must sleep...and work.........:whip:
