So my son gets this discipline referral today...

    and I quote teacher

"He was eating in the hallway.
I told him to stop eating and put it away,
he crammed the rest of it his mouth, I told
him not to chew it and to spit it out.
He proceeded to start chewing anyway."

My son is a straight A senior in high school,(very good kid/young man) the food was a Slim Jim/small meat stick sold by the school...

is this stupid or is it me, your thoughts, Thanks :)

Teacher is probably going through menopause so rational thoughts are alien to them. If it's a male... they're still probably going through menopause :p

So, there's how many people on this planet that are lucky to even get food? The saying "stupid is as stupid does" definitely applies here. Maybe the school should give the teachers a competency test prior to hiring them....just a thought. Seems these days teachers are falling behind in competency. I wonder if that teacher is related to my manager....

How much of pedagogy studies do they require from teachers over there, on average?

If School Hall Rules, Nothing wrong with teacher asking him to stop.
Son should have stopped eating and saved jimmy for later, instead he
aggravated situation by jamming all of jimmy into his mouth and flaunted his teacher by taking all of jimmy.
The teacher then responded in kind by demanding he spit out jimmy.
he refused and was given the referral.
He should have stopped eating when the teacher first requested he stop.
IMO, Everything that happen after being asked to stop eating was stupid.

    I agree.

Almost all schools have a no food/drinks in the halls policy.

Don't know. I'm not a teacher. I've got a 6yo son and so far, I haven't been impressed with the teachers or administrators at the schools he's been to. Their spelling and grammar are worse than mine and you guys see how bad mine is.... The school my son is in now is getting ready to be taken over by the state due to low test scores. Based on what I've seen from my son's schools, I find it hard to believe they require teachers to even have a high school diploma.
