hello guru's i have recently upgraded to the sandybridge platform and would like to share my reasons towords it, A mini review on my experiences, First of i hadn't been in the computer sights of things since my geforce 3 died way back in the non hd days, so i was quickly excited to get back into pc gaming, done a little research that was rushed in a hurry of excitement and decided to grab my self 1090t phenom II x6 processor Patriot g series black 4gb ddr3 1600 cl9 Asus m4a87td-evo Samsung 1tb spinpoint f3 Akasa x4 AfterMarket cpu cooler Zalman z7 mid case put everything together booted fine installed windows and kaboom running good, installed all new drivers and what not, looks nice i was happy, I could play most games in november 2010 on max apart from heavily physics engine games, January 2011, dad decided he wants to take a leap into the world of amd as i was after a upgrade on the motherboard to the Asus ROG IV Formula, i wanted to give him my previous m4a87td evo board, so i went a got the bits and decided to grab a asus 6970 as i was giving my gtx 460 to the old man as he was abit of a gamer in his day of the mighty pac man, anyways here is the picture of the 6970 i picked up and below is a pic of the new motherboard, i had done a overlock on this setup and upgraded my memory to 8GB CORSAIR VENGEANCE DDR3 1600 here is a pic of cpu-z and here is a pic of the Antec 1200 case i went and upgraded to, decided to get a better cooler so picked up a Corsair H70 here is a pic of the setup everything ran perfectly, i then decided in February 2011 to get another 6970 as i was itching to upgrade and spend some money loool so i went ahead and got the powercolor pcs+ now i started to feel a limiting factor as my 1090t x6 wasn't giving me the killer frame rate as i desired, so decided to sell the motherboard ram and cpu and sold the powercolor 6970 aswell, i wanted to buy another Asus 6970 but the newer direct cu II edition ended up getting alot more as i was set for intel this time round. new bits june 2011 I7 2600k Asus p8z68 pro-v GSKILL RIPJAWS CL7 4GB 1600mhz Thermaltake Toughpowerxt 875w Asus 6970 Direct cu II and 2 gentle typhoon 120mm fans to replace the corsair h70 noisy ones intel ssd 510 120gb 2x 1tb wd black 7200 drives samsung bluray burner (previous asus refrence 6970 crossfired with new one) everythings runs great now not stuter and high framerates! thanks for taking the time to read my thread.

Eh is was meant as a welcome. Watched your vid, So the i7 was the ticket then? I am waiting if i can to see what's next. If the new releases in the fall give me much trouble I will grab a 2600k then but so far I haven't been troubled. Heard alot of guy's in your boat tho with high end cards and the x6.
yea was a shame really the processor was one of the last things, i didnt expect amd's six core to be the cause to my electronic strip and breakdown, its such a huge difference i can feel it in everything i do, i guess intel was around first and are ahead when it comes to making cpu's and it defiantly shows in my experience
There was a time not too long ago they had the ball. Remember back to the original FX days? Doubt we'll see anything that significant again but they have the potential to build better chips and hopefully the new bulldozer is a start.
It has been like this for a long time. Some generations Intel dominates, other times it is AMD. History will repeat and once again we will see AMD leading the pack...
