i dunno why but, when i ran counter-strike my fps was WAAAAY lower than the fx5200. I lagged like crazy lag. Someone in the game also said that my processor speed has to be compatible with the card. I have a pentium 4 1.8ghz. i want to know if thats true or not. And also, if its not, i want to know if the driver i installed was just not good.
whats settings are u playing the game at ??? below 1024x768 ur card will be quite bottlenecked by the processor .... also try changing to drivers like 76.44 and better ....
???im playing game at 800x600. Shouldnt that give me good fps?? and also i will take your advice and download 76.44 right now
make sure you run drivercleaner b4 installing new drivers. also set agp aperature to 256. also check your vsinc, and AA/AF settings.
Try setting the screen res to 1024x768. Oh, and make sure The Anti-Ailiasing and Anisotropic Filtering aren't set sky-high, too. That 6600GT ought to be at LEAST 5X faster than your old FX5200!
how do i set agp aperature 256? can i use that even if i have agp 4x? also for AA and AF, is it good if i turned them off?
Gotta set it in the bios. Most motherboards you hold down DEL when the CPU posts. But, since yours is older it may be F2.
atleast ! this is the second thread i've read that someone went from a 5200 to a 6600GT and the performance was terrible ... strange
Turn the AA and AF to appl. controlled in the nvcp.......have connected that extra molex connector to your card??
Funny, My Geforce 6600 standard isn't as fast as it should be. It's at least 3.5x faster than my FX5200 but it's not getting the 3dMark03 points that Asus claims it should get. My CPU must be bottlenecking it. They claim 4850 but I can only get around 4050. My PSU could be too weak too.
your cpu has to do with it, but more so is your fsb. 333 fsb is alot slower than 400. so thats where your other 800 points are. allthough 3dmark03 is 90% GPU dependant, but the cpu/fsb certainly still plays a roll ...
The XP2000 is outdated. Only has 266mhz FSB. Unfortunately I cannot afford an entire new system. Still, I'm happy with the 6600's preformance so far.
uhhh... i changed my agp aperature to 256 and AA and AF to application controlled. It seems like my fps in counter strike just got WORSE! i dunno why. ALso, when i download the Xtreme G drivers my monitor blanks out. So i cant use those modified drivers. Does anyone know my problem!? or is it just my processor speed, fsb speed, and everything else like ram, thats making me slower?
dp911, can you put down more system info...ram, mobo etc Also it that P4 a willamot or a northwood 256 vs 512 onboard cach memory..and is is 478 soket or 423? get CPUZ from this down load site and ruun it, include detail in a thread reply...

OMFG! PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME GOD! I GET 41 FPS IN CS:SOURCE! I GET 52 fps WITH FX5200!!! SERIOUSLY!! WTF IS THIS NONSENSE?!?! I DONT KNOW WHY BUT THE ONLY NEW DRIVER I CAN USE IS 76.44!
