guys I'm new here, this issue has been known by some people all over the world. What about the fix? The fix hasn't been found yet till now. Even no confirmation from Nvidia and the partners. I've been using GTX 470 for 7 months with this ****ing black screen issue which occurs on 2d mode. I've posted many threads on other forums. I can't get one fix.

    My Spec:
    CPU AMD Phenom x4 9950BE
    mobo Ecs A790GXM-A
    Ram Apogee PC6300 2gb x 2
    EVGA GTX 470

I'm just hoping some one might help me...

I've tried many things, from reinstalling, uninstalling drivers, look for other driver, even reinstall my windows but all of those don't help.... bad really bad... even I can't RMA the card because the vendor could find the issue and said it was a mother board compatibility problem

you may find my name in several forums that posted the same threads...

Plz some one plz help me

I never had any issues when I had a gtx470 for 7 months. Sorry you are having problems.
Have you tried a different motherboard?

AOPEN prima power AO700-12ALN you may see the review somewhere by googling... but I've asked a person, he's using Corsair HX850 and he also has this issue. And I think, does it possible? cause my card runs well on gaming... even crysis, furmark, but when browsing, or even watching a video... it may come and ruin my day.. ~~ it only happens on 2d mode such as browsing, idle, desktop, and video, mp3 many else on 2d mode...

I heard that it was a motheboard compatibility issue but I still doubt

I just checked out my PSU this morning, the +12v runs on 11.90 no doubt by using AOV Meter

I also have updated my BIOS (motherboard) haven't update card bios, I'm not a dare devil... I've uninstalled reinstalled the Nvidia HD audio and realtek HD audio... but it doesn't help at least... it doesn't help... had RMA'd it... it doesn't help either

At what clock speed is this happening? In 2d mode the card usually goes down to 51/135 MHz and a lower voltage. Could be this voltage is a bit too low. You can use NiBiTor to see and edit this and maybe add some 0.025V to the lower perfmodes.

If it happens on 2D Clocks, edit the Bios and up the core/mem clocks up a bit along with voltage.

Must be your motherboard dude. I've had the same card for 7-8 months and I've never had a single issue.

Yes what happens with my mother board? I can't find the problem... and if it's what motherboard should I get?

has anyone checked my power supply? I can't get it... why the evga technician always blames my psu as a suspect. If the psu lack of power than I wonder my sytem will not be running right now and if it's true I can even play a game smoothly. but I'm still able to run Crysis as long as I want but not watching video or even browsing or do 2d activity

according to what i can find on the OP's aopen psu, it has 4x 12V rails with 15A on each.

which means there should be two gpu power rails limited at 15A each. if youve got both connectors plugged into a a single 15A rail, you may be blowing over the limit of power that rail can supply. have you tried plugging in one pcie cable to one rail and one pcie cable to another?

thanks for responding... yeah if the VGA lack of power from the PSU, should my CPU has been shut down or can't be lighted up? When I play 3d game on max like crysis... the never been shut down or even crash...

I have try to increase the 2d mode core clock and voltage it doesn't help

Man, seven months of dealing with this issue that has yet to be resolved..that really sucks.

If I were you, I would first determine if the problem is caused the card itself or a compatibility issue with another component (mb, psu, ram, etc). What card did the 470 replace? Did the problem start right after 470 was installed?

I’ve read that you have had the card rma’d and tested by evga to only have it sent back as they were unable to duplicate the problem and found no problem with the card. So, with that information it strongly suggests a system compatibility issue, but if it were me, I would find another capable system to test the card in for an extend period of time.

If testing it in another computer isn’t possible, I would make absolutely sure that the rest of the system is 100% stable.

Do you have or are you able to borrow another vc that switches between 2d/3d clocks and volts to test?

Do you have a copy of XP and another hd you could install to test OS, drivers, etc?

Since evga won’t replace the card, you’re rather limited in options; and could possibly send unnecessary money finding the source of the problem.

    yeah.... I once used HD4850...

I've ever used 7 32bit, and the issues was there too... and no I'm using 7 64bit and it's still that bad no don't have other OS...

some says it is the PSU some says it is the motherboard... it's hard for me to decide ~~

Unfortunately, the only way to really find out is try each component by swapping and testing. If you’re paying for each part and hopping to get lucky; it’s just not worth it.

I had a similar problem with an evga 470 that was recently replaced. Although, mine didn’t happen as near as frequently as yours sounds too; I still had issues with blue and black bsods. I had the card in two different systems with the same problem regardless of driver or settings. Because the problem is intermittent it is difficult to know when a step has been taken to correct the problem.

When I installed the 580, I also did a fresh OS install (clean start). I’m on vacation this week so I have some time to test it out; three days and no blank bsods.

I searched the net with vengeance looking for a cure but sure enough the problem would eventually return. When I get the time I’m going to put the 470 in another computer as an upgrade. There may be an absolute fix for this problem but I was never able to find it; since I still have the card I would love to have this resolved. In my case, at this time I think it’s either a faulty card or driver.

If ur 3d clock speed is runs ok ( as u told u have no issue in gamming) then use msi afterburner and always stick in 3d clock speed ( i dont know how to do it but i read somewhere that it can be done/ always stay in 3d clock speed) .. See if it can help u anyway, coz there is no other option left !!
