    Hello,

My main computer currently doubles as an office computer and a home theater computer. I currently have a ATI Radeon 3870 card which powers 2 monitors via DVI.

Every time I want to watch a movie, I have to unplug the second monitor and plug in my A/V receiver in the basement to send the signal to the projector.

I would much prefer to have 2 video cards and have the projector constantly hooked up and ready to go.

I would like to get a 4550 card (or something similar) in order to support multi-channel LPCM audio over HDMI. My 3870 will only do SPDIF over HDMI which limits me to 5.1 DTS, 5.1 Dolby Digital, and 2 channel PCM.

Will a 3870 card and 4550 card play nicely together in my computer? I assume they both use the same ATI driver and both utilize Catalyst Control Panel.

    Cheers,
    Bryan

Yes, not only is it possible but its very supported and all you'll have to do, provided you're current on drivers, is simply plugin the 4550.
