This guy is an attention seeker or an idiot to be complaining about this. I'll take the latter.

Multiplayer games are probably what saved gaming really. Online and offline.

Nah not really. As the Wii has proved that you just need something different.

i wish people would start thinking. Dunno about other countries but mine's economy is in the ****ter. let me think.... multiplayer fps with no demo and no name backing it, or a tank of gas. Stop making Garbage, one day games and people will buy it.

I don't think that I would mind paying a small (£1-£6) monthly fee if:

    a) the cost to buy the game is significantly less than it is now. £35 and a monthly fee would be asking for far too much. Maybe £25 for a hard copy and £15 for a digital copy? (I'm not sure how much boxing and distributing a game costs, I don't work in this kind of industry, these figures are just what I'm willing to pay)

    b) the game itself would have to be exceptional. None of this happy-horse-**** that MW2 pulled. The customer is always right, and if the paying customer asks for a dedicated server.... give them a dedicated server!

    c) the game should be free from cheaters and hackers. People who ruin other people's fun by cheating should be treated like criminals. If people are paying a monthly fee, I would expect an anti-cheat system that works.

    d) there would be monthly tournaments, competitions etc.

    e) if there were any sequals, saved data would be carried over (rank, stats etc).

    f) free and regular DLC

It makes sense when it comes to games like WoW.. players are so addicted to 1 or 2 mmo's, they pass up on other non-mmo type games.
$15 a month for a hundred+ hours of monthly entertainment is a lot cheaper than $40-50 for <15 hours of single player entertainment. With rare exceptions, like morrowind, oblivion and just barely fallout 3.

Same applies to other multiplayer games, buy once, get hundreds or thousands of hours of entertainment. I know i have at least 500 hours in HL2:DM since i bought the game.
Last game i payed money for, was X3 terran conflict a few years back, and i got maybe 40 hours of enjoyment out of it before it got boring because of the lack of multiplayer.

Too true, i think some of these people are so removed from whats happening globally with the recession that they actually think the games industry is some magic market that wont be affected. LOL
