    First of all thank you unwinder so much for your support for MSI AB.At the moment is the best tool for gpus,recording and monitoring

    I want to ask something. I have a 290 and i am using the ab command to add more voltage. Now my question is i have a 7970 out of warranty and i want to bench it with a water chiller. Is there any way to get more than 1.3 volt on msi ab for reference pcb 7970? I know that trixx support 1.38 volts but compared to msi ab trixx is just bad so i would like to ask if there is a way to add more volts through ab command.If you dont want to answer me for specific reasons i understand and sorry.

    Merry Christmas unwinder

    Hi, is there any way to lower voltage in MSI 280x more than -94mV
    I am using:
    [Settings]
    VDDC_IR3567B_Detection = 32h
    VDDC_IR3567B_Output = 0
    MVDDC_IR3567B_Detection = 32h
    MVDDC_IR3567B_Output = 1

    so the bar in GUI is visible and what I can get is -94mV...

    Also I tried to execute below code in command box while AB running:
    MSIAfterburner.exe /wi4,30,8d,-18
    and
    MSIAfterburner.exe /wi6,30,8d,-18
    but I think it is not working.

    What I can get is to lower voltage in GPU VEN_1002&DEV_6798&SUBSYS_27751462&REV_00&BUS_5&DEV_0&FN_0 for about 150mV.

    Yes, you can program negative offsets via the command line. But you cannot use negative values as is in the command line, they should be represented as 8-bit two's complement values, e.g. -1 = FF, -2 = FE and so on

    Unwinder, thx

    However, dould you describe more precisly how it should be done so I set voltage only to GPU VEN_1002&DEV_6798&SUBSYS_27751462&REV_00&BUS_5&DEV _0&FN_0 and do not affect other GPUs?

    i tried to put in command box below code while running AB with no result

    (...)\MSIAfterburner.exe" /wi4,30,8d,F0
    (...)\MSIAfterburner.exe" /wi6,30,8d,F0
    (...)\MSIAfterburner.exe" /wi5,32,8d,F0 (thought that maybe syntax is something like wi<bus_no>,<probing_device>,8d,..)

    By default command is applied to currently selected GPU only. You can use /SG (Select Gpu) switch to select target GPU and combine programming several GPUs inside one call, e.g. to overvolt both:

    MSIAfterburner.exe /sg0 /wi6,30,8d,10 /sg1 /wi6,30,8d,10

    The value you tried to increment is GPU I2C bus index. All buses are connected to the same GPU and located on the same card.

    He is using a MSI 280x.The 290x voltage commands are the same for 280x?I think they use different voltage regulators

    I think msi use chl8228g like ref 7970

    Sorry to drag this back up, but this is related to everything in this thread. Also I was impressed to see the creator of Riva tuner in this forum. That's a pretty good claim to fame. Nearly everyone that plays on a PC will recognise him :)

    I have an MSI card with bios 015.042 version (015.042.000.003.000000) Product name 113-MSITV277MH.380 Tahiti B0 XTL C38650 GDDR5 3GB 500e/150m.

    It seems to be a newer bios than all the versions I have seen before. It's not on techpowerup yet.

    Anyway the voltage is locked, and when I flash the 015.039 or the 015.040 bios the card doesn't post.

    If I rip the bios I have and edit with a lower voltage, even 0.04V less, the card black screens in Windows.

    When I open MSI AB I get the same screen as the one posted in this thread. I get no voltage control enabled and I get no VRM temps shown in GPUz.

    The I2CD dump looks like this, which is pretty much the same as the guy above, but when I insert the items into one of the profiles, the voltage control still isn't unlocked, and I don't understand why :confused: (I had to shorten it as it was too long to post here with 5 GPUs):

    Also, the following settings will forcibly unlock it on your card without proper BIOS flash. If you cannot get it working, it can only mean that you add it improperly:

    [Settings]
    VDDC_IR3567B_Detection = 32h
    VDDC_IR3567B_Output = 0
    MVDDC_IR3567B_Detection = 32h
    MVDDC_IR3567B_Output = 1

    Hi, thanks for the reply, I have 5 files in the profiles folder, one for bus 0, bus 1, bus 2 etc.

    I put the lines above exactly as they are just copied and pasted into each of those files at the end. Restarted MSI AB and voltage control wasn't unlocked.

    I assume what I did is correct?

    I dont't know where you're mistaking and I won't be able to guide you through the process, it is trivial and it was discussed a LOT of times (including typical errors you can make). I can only say that the dump you provided works with those changes it with 100% warranty. If it is too complex for you, just don't mess with profiles modification, contact MSI and reqest proper BIOS.

    No it isn't too complex. How hard can it be copying and pasting some lines of text into a profile? I copied and pasted it exactly as shown and it just doesn't unlock the voltage control in my version of AB.

    As I said though - some people with the exact same card seem to be able to change their bios to older versions or modify voltages in their existing bios, with my cards, if I change the Bios even by 0.004V then it black screens when I use it.

    I have previously edited quite a few Sapphire R9 280x cards and never had issues.

    Does it matter what version of MSI AB it is that's running?

    I note in the screen shot this guy is using a beta version, I am using newest normal version from MSI.

    How likely are MSI to send me a voltage unlocked bios??

    Ill post a screen shot, just tried it again, deleted the ven*.cfg files and started with a fresh one for each with only your text in there. Opened AB and clicked the unlock voltage, it restarted AB, but still, no voltage control. I think my cards are just perma locked....

    Right, problem solved I think - I downloaded the beta version and did exactly the same as I had before and it works fine now.

    Thank you. Temps dropped about 10 deg per card.

    1 last question - how do I get MSI AB to load these voltages at Windows startup rather than standard? They need to be applied before the mining software starts.

    Thanks

    Ok thanks.

    Measured at the wall and wattage drops from between 1480-1520 to between 1350-1400.

    Here's an odd one though, I undervolt the cards to say -100mv.

    When I press apply, it changes it to say -87mv which is fine.

    I close MSI, next time I open MSI AB, voltage is at -78mv say, so I close it, open it again, voltage now at -70mv. Close, open it's at -54mv.

    Why does it creep up every time I open and close MSI AB?

    And will simply restarting the PC keep creeping up the voltage?

    I have done this, and MSI replied to say:

    Use afterburner

    I replied that voltage control is locked

    They replied to say that it isn't a BIOS issue and that I need to wait for an updated AB version.

    I have to say - I could have guessed that they would have said this rather than give me an updated bios with voltage control unlocked.
