Hey guys! Ive recently purchased a R7970 due to excellent reviews and some personal recommendations here on the g3d forums. Upon testing, i've found some slightly above average (i think) temps. I'd get around 70c on BF3 Around 77c on FC3 Around 67c on GPU-Z's render test Surely these are high? I'd be the first to admit how bad the airflow in my case is, but could that be solely responsible for these temps? Thanks
Depending on how experimental you are, repaste the card. I did it to my TF3 with MX4 and the temps dropped significantly.
Its the Lightning version with TF IV right? I have TF IV on mine 680 and yet on full load I get max 64 degrees celsious.
Yes it could and mostly is responsible if case airflow is not very good. Though, 77c isn't that high either to be honest, and it will depend on your ambients for the most part. http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/MSI/HD_7970_Lightning/32.html
Not ready for that Yea your probably right, could you guys recommened a good case management/airflow guide or something similar? To be honest, i've never cared for airflow up until now!
What is your fan set to? I have An XFX DD 7970 and them temps are fine. Overclocked slightly to 1000/1500 with 20%. I have 6 120mm side fans blowing in. one 120mm in the front and one in the back. Cpu is water cooled. Now if you running stock clocks and 100% fan all the time I would say them temps are 5-8c higher then normal.
I got these temps when my fan was at 50%. Ive tried the same games/apps at 60% and although temps were slightly better, they could still be lower. Ive invested in a new case with which im going to create a good airflow and then see how the temps change. Airflow tips are welcome guys. Thanks
