Well here is to my first post :)

Basically I'm recently read the Guru 3d Benchmark of the New Hitman Absolution. And running the benchmarks I am only getting about half of that :/
    (http://www.guru3d.com/articles_page...phics_vga_performance_review_benchmark,6.html)

I've got an AMD 8150, 8 GB of Corsair DDR3 (1333), an MSI 7970 Lightning, and a Corsair Force Series 3 240GB, a fresh install of win 8 pro 64 and a 30 inch monitor running at 2560*1600.

And in the Benchmarks I am getting 13 FPS, vs the 33 in the benchmarks.

And yup I've got the Catalyst 12.11 running.

Any Ideas? Could it be windows 8 fouling up?

Playing on Windows 8 without issues with 60 fps, 1080p but without MSAA.
    Latest CAPS installed, btw?

By Caps I take I take it you mean Catalyst application Profiles? If so then yes. Pardon the lack of knowledge on the subject. Still new to the game...

    Thanks.

I haven't check how optimized this game threaded and CPU sensitive is ... but my bet would be your CPU. Can you overclock a little to see if that has an effect on performance ?

It's very extreme that difference though ...

Well its an 8 core CPU sitting at 3.61 GHz stock, the maximum utilization during the benchmark, even if I set things to ultra is 42% so I don't think its the CPU...

Overclocked i7=33 FPS vs stock Bulldozer=13 FPS...Sounds about Right... Overclock that 8 core dude:banana:

42% makes it sound cpu limited since it is probably only using 4 of those cores and would be almost 100% maxing out one of them.

I had the resource monitor running, it showed that its using all 8 of them and none of them even got close to peaking... None of them had the "Parked" status.

Yeah, this game does tax on the cards these days. perhaps we have the wait for optimized drivers. On my system with Crossfire 7950's (2x) on 1920x1200 and everything maxed out including MSAA, i'm getting around 65-85 fps range. A rare second or two it would dip in the 50's but overall it still runs relatively well but I'm surprised that this game is quite demanding. Are there CAPS released for this game yet? I mean for BF3 i never go below 100fps.

That really doesn't mean a thing. The per core performance of Bulldozer is roughly half of what Intel Nehalem cores offer.

I've seen titles drop 40% in performance just in-between the two processors whilst they had good core threaded utilization.

All I'm saying, give it a try to see if you can see a direct performance increase. If so, it's the processor.

]Its your CPU. I have the same 7970.

Went from 965be clocked at 4.5ghz to a 3570k and performance on hitman was night and day.

Is it that bad (the CPU)??? I get 90 fps with an i5 2500k and an XFX 7970 DD @ 1080p

Yeah man. Fps was always in the mid 30s, and any little amount of action dropped it to a playable but very annoying fps.

With the 3570k installed it's getting high fps and no matter how much heat suddenly pops on screen, it never dips below anything one could notice.

Same with ac3. Very annoying fps, changed to 3570k and smooth as butter.

Yeah, I was running an Athlon II x4 640 OC'd to 3.8Ghz, now went for the i5 2500k.. now its running at 4.2Ghz being summer (its 36ºC outside) and in winter (3ºC outside) it runs at 4.5Ghz as temps never reach a dangerous level. And gaming has become like you said night and day difference. Not only in FPS but everything is rendered faster so smoothness is awesome. Just a few days ago I had 2x 6850 in CF and microstuttering was so annoying... just went for a 7970 and now this is a killer machine.
