That's the one I got coming but it is a slightly overclocked model. Apparently MSI uses 100% the reference cooler and that is the only real bummer tbh. Going from a nice Direct CU II to a really cheap stock cooler is going to suck. Hopefully as my case is well cooled the fan won't spin up too much and get annoying.
Don't worry, Supertribble. I've got the MSI GTX 670 OC and the stock cooler is more than adequate. The card is cool enough. Of course, this comes after 2 years of having a 1st gen Fermi
The fan noise on my MSI is just horrible, even at idle. It's a awful, mechanical sound that is just impossible to ignore. Not sure whether to RMA.
i brought a GIGABYTE gtx 670 http://www.compusa.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2585856 hopefully is quiet and cool ^^ live in LA gonna be super hot in a month or 2..
I was close to buying it last night but decided to wait for the 4GB version! Let me know how noisy/silent it is though
kinda like rubber grinding, clicking sound? It could be that rubber ring around fan axle slightly out of place, i remember some stock Evga GTX570 had this issue.
It's just the bearing in the fan. It's not a air moving nice pleasant 'whoosh' sort of noise at all. I dunno what to do. I tried slightly loosening the screws around the fan and if I lightly put my finger on the plastic next to the fan the noise stops. I guess it's an annoying vibration. What can I do?
Im sorry i meant like a brrrr sound (not clicking), something like so? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gaRxND3mn3U Idk you could try these 2 suggestions posted here http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.aspx?m=1509149&mpage=1 or ask at MSI support forums here http://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?PHPSESSID=r067c1kanogqqd3qm8lbr76f17&board=9.0
Yeah the noise is like that only lower in pitch and more annoying. My card didn't have any plastic film on it tho so I dunno what to do. Will ask on MSI forum. Plus also the fan cannot go below 30% at all. Not even using AB.
