    hey!

i was currently using a 1.7 p4 (old type) then got a new 2.4 p4 northwood from a friend of mine, so i thought it would work perfectly... well it didnt!!

so i put the chip in, and booted my machine up everything worked fine,
till i noticed that it was only running it at 1.8ghz so i thought it was the setting in the bios but there are no setting for this CPU, i made sure that mobo and cpu were both the same. cpu fsb 533mhz mobo 533mhz it wont let it work faster

(my mainboard is MSI ms-6769 or MSI- 650gx 962l) and CPU is (intel p4 2.4ghz northwood)

other info (set at 1.8 GHZ)

    core speed: 1789.89mhz
    multiplier x18.0
    fsb 99.6 mhz
    bus speed 398.4 mhz

    please help me!!!!!!!!!! thanks

Your FSB is set at 100mhz for PC1600 settings. You need to set it at 133MHZ FSB for PC2100 settings. 133 x 18 = 2.4Ghz.

That statement „FSB 533MHz overclockable“ doesn’t mean you can run 533MHz succesfully. There is a RAM test report for FSB533 and SDR PC133 SDRAM (but no FSB533&SDR PC100): http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_trp_detail.php?UID=429
See tests and manual whether your mobo supports your RAM at FSB533. You may need to change RAM frequency or RAM blocks (PC2700 DDR) to run FSB:RAM 1:1 or at supported ratio.
    But in FAQ there is:
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/servi...o_detail.php?L_kind=1&UID=429&NA=650GXM Combo
