It's like gaming on PC is more and more a luxury thing with these prices, who the hell are they targeting with such high gpu/cpu/mobo/ram prices? Mid range hardware prices went to what was high end few years ago, low end has never been poorer and actual high end is for select few, doesn't feel good.

 

imo there's still ways to get really nice stuff at affordable prices, but it requires a lot of research and planning and certainly making some conccessions in the first place. then there's rationality - like show me what scenario is required to see 7700x/ddr5/x670 do something that 5700x/ddr4/x570 can't and how likely I'm going to find myself in that scenario.

if you don't do that, accept you're going to be milked by all big three.

 

Yes but imagine 7700x/ddr5 6000/x670 with 4080 16gb. That would be such a modern and fast system you just cant deny you want one but then we can get back reality go to ebay and start scrapping

 

in reality, I wouldn't tell a difference between that and 12400f/ddr4/b660 w. 3080 12g on a 1440p 144hz display, saving more than a thousand euros. probably way more than a thousand. 700e on the gpu alone, at least 250 on the cpu, 150 on the memory,200 on the board.exactly the price of that alienware qd-oled that you can have by making very reasonable concessions on other components.

the pro-p version is a better purchase than pro-a this round, on z690 the a was worth the slight premium for extra m.2 connectors, now p has them too

Unfortunately no surprise to me, given that amd is keeping am4 around, it will most likely continue to serve the entry level price range for the next year or so.

 

absolutely,5600 is still a very powerful cpu.

 

DDR5 and DDR5 capable motherboards is kind of the bane of the midrange gamer.

But TBH, up until recently I always used new CPU generation releases to get the last gen or even 2 gen old stuff for cheap.

If I were younger and poorer I'd still be doing things that way. This is a real good time to go out and buy a 2070 Super for ~$200 and make a Zen 3 or Gen 11 rig for example. That would be like the sh$% two years ago.

PC Gaming is now similar to sporting events and concerts. What was once an "average joe" arena of entertainment is now something that is becoming too expensive as the entire industry is focused on maximum profits, mainly focused on chasing the richest clients.

 

Rdiculous price increase on new motherboards, as miners sales dwindle they decided us gamers need to pay up for lost revenue, but when we needed gfx cards they forgot about us, time to make them feel the same..

 

Even without inflation or € / $ exchange rate differences considered, prices in Europe are always higher than the rest of the world. Remember Sony upping game prices to $70 and everyone whining about it? We pay €80.

I do not consider PC Gaming expensive, in the condition that you are pacient and willing to upgrade when that specified platform was in that market for some time. Newer hardware was always expensive, but now is more evident because of inflation and Europe facing a falling Euro.

I only upgraded to Ryzen in 2020, I bought a MSI X470 Gaming Pro Max for 120€, this board is qualified for any Ryzen 5000 CPU. The board lacks some newer technologies, like PCI Express 4.0, but is not really necessary for now if your GPU is x16. I accept this consessions so the board is capable for many years to come. Updating to the Ryzen 5600 was easy, and if in the future the price is good, I can upgrade to a 5800X3D or 5900/5950X. As for CPUs, my 5600 runs everything fine, Ryzen 5000 is very good for many years, and you can snag this CPU under 200€ easily. Need DDR4? Get cheap kit like Gskill Aegis 16GB 3200 for 50€, if you have lucky like me, it runs at 3533 18-20-20-20. And for 40€ you buy a NVME 500GB.

Just to state again, I'm refering exclusively Gaming, not any king of different workload.

As for B650 boards, I was expecting this absurd prices, like was for the B550 when launched. And RDNA3 will be the same or worse.

 

Being an early adopter was always a bit more expensive, but this is an exaggeration.
All these tech companies need a couple of bad quarters, as to forgo of their hubris, and be reminded that mining and covid restrictions are over.

I remember those days when ATI had released HD5000 with tessellation capabilities. A great anticipation for me it was. Bought an HD5770 .
The hell.... i did game on that thing sometimes from dusk to dawn (yes, i wrote it right)..
It was a low-mid range back then.
If i look at current pathetic gpu line up , 6700xt should be now, where the hd5770 was back in those days .. right? No, 6700xt is even a 2 years old tech. And it cost 400$. Damn.. i miss those days......

 

I checked some of DDR5 prices and didn't find them bad actually. You can get Kingston Fury DDR5 5200Mhz 40-40-40 1.25V 2x8Gb (16Gb) for around 100€. Comparatively DDR4 3200Mhz is 75€ but still, not that big of a difference.

the b650 equivalent starts at $200.
apparently am5 users will be paying for am4 longevity,as this is supposed to be the budget option now. am5 is positioned as a premium product altogether.
