i have a prob if anyone can help ! I have a desktop with below config :- intel DH67BL mb , 1.5 TB HDD, core i5 2400k-3.2 ghz, 8GB ram . Recently i purchased MSI AMD/ATI R7 265 2GB OC edition. previously i have sapphire HD 5770 1GB installed. Till date most of the games ran fine in medium settings witout lags. But now with the R7 265 card, all games are getting laggy, even in medium settings. i don't understand why? i have reinstalled the drivers, still no effect. temp is fine. machine is also not rebooting. but games are lagging. could some one please help ! my machine is around 2.5-3 years old. do i need to change my MB and cpu? will installing a ssd help?

Games played with R7 265 are metro last light, Battlefield 4, call of duty-Ghosts.

Any help will be really appreciated.

I'm thinking it's your PSU. Can give us more information about it? Does the card have 1 or 2 6pin connectors?

It is zebronics delux PSU 520w.2.5 yrs old model. The card have one 6 pin connector, which gives two output connecters to psu. I have only connected 1 output to psu. i dont kno what is the use of other output. I didnot try that. But Card is getting power and functioning properly. No systems freeze or reboot. it happen only during gaming. Till now tried three games Metro last light, call of duty ghosts , battlefield - all have lags. I have update by MOBO Bios yesterday and also installed last AMD 14.6 Beta drivers. Didnt make much difference in COD ghosts. But i installed and played Battlefield 2 for few mintues tere was no lags at all. It might be PSU issue as you people are saying or is it that R7 card still has issues with most of the latest titles. yet to try crysis 3. i still have option to get refund for the card. but before doing that i want to make sure what exactly is the issue. Will installing a new PSU 650w crossiar fix the issue ?

I am using avast free version as my anti virus.

Can you try that 265X on another system? Some friend maybe? Card is 5x stronger than your old 5770 so i think card is not getting enough power, and happens while gaming for obvious reasons.

Thanks a Lot Undying for your help. You correctly zeroed out the problem. After applying some brains and logic, i opened my chasis yesterday and found out that that 6 pin connector has two inputs which goes to PSU. Each input serves 300w of power, which acts as load balancer i guess. But what i did was i have given psu connectivity to only one input, the other one i left blank. So GPU was managing to run on 300w of power somehow and that was causing all games to lag. But after connecting both inputs to PSU, the lagging is gone completely and i am playing all games in ultra and high settings without any single lag. So luckily i have saved a lot of $$$$, or else i was going to buy a new PSU. My 520w is sufficient enough to serve this GPU now.

I was going to say, that 520W is plenty power for a 265... Glad proper power connections was an easy error to fix.
