There's a report on 49" QD-OLED 2.0 being made as a monitor by MSI too. I saw it on VideoCardz/WCCF.

I had a 27" 1080p and it was bad so if it has same ppi i would stay away from it.

    Why not 3840x1600 instead?

Indeed - ppi is what matters most for monitors.

3440 x 1440 is surprisingly hard to drive compared to 16:9 1440p. 21:9 1600p would be even harder. Still, it would be preferred for desktop use at 45 inches.

21:9 1440p has 25% more pixels than 16:9 1440p. As for 21:9 1600p is still less pixels than 16:9 4k so anyone buying these monitors probably have in mind gpu req.

why did they have to blow this up to 45" as if 34" wasn't already bordering on low ppi, I've been hoping for a 29" 3440x1440 or 5120x2160 at 34"

people that like 32" 1080p will love this thing tho

Yeah I agree. There's GPUs out there that can drive this in even the most demanding games.. and anyone buying this monitor probably has one of those GPUs.

God 1080p on a 27" is bad. I got 3 32 inch's one 4k and the other 2 2k and I reckon they are big enough. I could not imagine a 49" at only 1440p that thing would be blurry as all hell.

Looks like they just cut a piece of a TV panel to make this maybe? It's too big for that resolution and probably came from a TV panel. Pixels per inch on a 49" 4K TV is about 90, same as this monitor.

nope, this is a specially built unit -

the thing that gets me is HH didn't mention the motorized adjustable curve, as that's the model that won the innovation award.

Ah well… here’s hoping that they grow a brain and release a 3840x1600 38 inch ultrawide soon.

Ppl forget this things can go 240 Hz at the max resolution! AND OLED!
    Just saying...

But for me, I would just buy 4K@120HZ or 200HZ or 8K QLED (If i am a good wage slave this year, maybe a bonus would get me an 8K OLED).

But not enough GPU power to push it @ that FPS with RTRT. Maybe in a few more generations.

Soooo ... Why consider an 8k display now ? In few gens there will be a lot more options in the category and most likely cheaper and better ! As a wage slave my self I always look to tax evade the early adoption tax!

8K for home office work. Despite ppl poo poo on "big screens" you can split it up to multiple windows and still have enough resolution to do multiple screens of work on one big display.

I LOVE my new 4K OLED, I have 4x screen space as my old 1080p and each "1080p" window is bigger than my work monitor in size yet looks so much better.

I work with huge spreadsheets that spans 2 screens wide, realize how important a big screen is.

Plus when I am free, I can game or movie in either window or full screen. I can drop the resolution if the GPU cannot keep up or push 4K video through USB to the processor .

I wonder can I plug in a USB cable from PC to monitor USB to force it to use that as a virtual USB drive and enable the decoder for up to 120 HZ interpolation. Looks great.

PIP is awesome to share a big screen with more than one person. No distractions and why sacrifice "quality"?

Ppl here upgrade their PC gear between 1-5 years, but monitors and TVs last like 10-15 years (my last FHD is over 14 years old).

YOLO you know? Enjoy each moment and maximize it.

Oh how I want one of these. Perfect to replace my 49 inch with.

Too much silly banter in here about 21:9 or ultrawides. Its funny seeing people afraid of ditching their archaic 16:9.

16x9 is the mathematically optimal screen size.

@Agonist you really have to jump in and defend any poor defenseless ultra wide screen don't you ? Actually most of the complaining falls in the pixel density not the form factor , also there is a thing called personal taste !
