msi afterburner

    Is there a good guide to oc'ing a 5870 using afterburner?

    Just go up bit by bit testing. I used to use furmark to test stability with nvidia cards but didnt seem to work with the 5870...

    I run 1.25v and 950/1250 and have very few crashes. Some cards will do 1000 core on 1.25v-1.3v you just have to take it easy and go up bit by bit testing with at least 3 or so games. Just because one game is stable doesnt mean rest will be...so you might have to raise voltage a wee bit more.

    From 850-950 the fps gain for me was maybe 5-10fps and then 950-1000 maybe 5fps max on top..the voltage increase for me and temp increase meant 950 was the most viable option.

    I havent redone my paste yet which might mean you can overclock that much better...

    When overclocking keep an eye on those temps...

    I think the 5870's are a bit temperamental around 75-80c. Mind you could be drivers :)
