    Hello there,

    I have a 256mb Msi 6800Ultra running on a P4 3Ghz (FSB-533Mhz) with 2GB ram.

    Here is my story

Got the card, installed it using the 61.77 drivers. Installed fine.
    Ran 3dmark03 = 11.7K

    Everything was looking good.

I then installed Doom3. This is where it all went downhill.
The game would freeze every few minutes. If you left it,it would eventually come back.. but then freeze again.

i really thought i had a faulty card.. but when i read all the various forums... i knew i was not alone !!!!

initially, i thought flashing was the way forward. Basically everyone that did it, couldnt stop going on about it !.

i then saw some posts about potential problems with the card switiching from 2d to 3d, with the fix being to increase 2d to 425Mhz.
As this was less drastic then flashing... i did it !.

Since then , my card has not frozen once.

i have played Doom3 for hours and it has ran trouble-free.

I did notice some horizontal tearing (i have LCD).. but this was fixed with turning on V-Sync in the game.

I play doom3 with ULTRA High settings @ 1024x768 with 2xAA. They game runs no problems and the framerate only drops a bit when i enter a large room ... even still, its 100% smooth.

So cut a long story short (too late! ) ..... is there any need for me to flash the card with the Nvidia bios ?
is 11.7K ok on 3dmark03 with my setup ?

    Thanks in advance

Are you sure turning up the 2d clock speeds is safe? I mean, I thought nVidia cards had a 3D throttling speed that they drop down to, which is almost as low as the 2d speed. That's what mine does.

Do you really need to run 425mhz in windows?

Hey Guys, I did figure out why I was having trouble getting my card to over clock. I have the BFG 6800U OC. I tried some different bios files including the eVGA 6800UE with no luck. I finally decided to reinstall the latest BFG bios I could get which is REV3. I had edited other eVGA bios and when I opened the BFG bios I noticed something I hadn't seen before with the clocks. The 2D clock settings were different the core was set at 11264 and so was the memory. The 3D was set to 425/550 which is normal. So I changed the 2D to 425/550 and raised the VGPU 1.3. I also raised the 3D VGPU to 1.5. Since then I have been able to run my card at 450/1200 with no lockups. My 3DMARK03 score was 12777.
