Hi all, Got a new msi 6800 card, put it in my machine then I go to boot up and from the bios screen I instantly have white and green fuzzy lines across my screen and the same when its in windows. If I go to install a driver it jus crashes windows. This is the second card of the same type with the same problem, I already sent one back and this is the exchange card. 400watt PSU 3.2 P4 512 DDR 400 no interefeance sources near by, I unplugged extra case fans as I thought it was interference. I also tried updated the LIVE VGA bios, no luck. would by much appriecaited if anyone has any suggestions. Its an MSI CARD and MSI MOBO 865 chipset. Thanks
Have you tried putting another AGP card into the same mobo? if not i would do this. and then work from there, (as to see if its the card, or the mobo)
I had to send my 1st 6800u back, it was a bad chipset (on the hush) i have heard that alot are being RMA'ed due to this, (nice one nvid) but it does sound like a power (psu) problem to me, i.e the lines and such like on your screen, try putting two 4-pined power leads into the back of the card, when i say two (you have already this done) make sure they are from different power lines coming from the same PSU. just to try that, as another thing.
I had one of those, soon replaced it with a 350w Enermax instead. It was a pretty lowend psu (only 4 molex connectors on a 400w psu?) and I didn't like the way the cooling fan inside would change speed due to the load it was under. Made me feel very uneasy...
