"Might only be available in the US"

LOL. Do it you morons! I'll enjoy watching it in the UK at the same time...for free.

It's called the internet. It's been around a while now and it's not just available in one country. If you try to block/limit access based on a region it will be bypassed, it will be scutinised and it will increase piracy.

PS: Pricing is key. Stop charging so much and more people will buy it if it's good.

Jeez, when will these company execs wake up and smell the coffee.

Read about this concept several years ago, I think it is great. Yes $50 per movie is pricey but not as pricey as taken a family of 4 or 6 to the movies. No over priced food, no ignorant people to deal with and no having to drive home afterwards. I say it is a win win for the movie goer.

It's not just the pricing as well.

I watch so many movies and series, that if a service like Netflix would offer me EVERYTHING I need, I would gladly pay € 25 a month if not more.

The problem is not just the pricing, (illegal) downloading in a way also offers a better service: No region locks, etc.

Regional releases were stupid years ago, and it's even worse now.

I remember grabbing a near perfect Finding Nemo, probably DVD9 to DVD5, but retail disc with menus etc... at the same time as the UK cinema release.
Kids films especially should release everywhere at the same time.

Illegal downloading is the only way to get real Hd movies without buying the blue ray. To this day, I have yet to see a single streaming service offer HD audio and even the video is highly compressed. Bluray 1080p looks far better than 4k streaming.

There isn't a market for it, that's why.
Not many want to download 25-40gb and even less would be able to stream.

I would, but im in the minority.

I highly doubt 1080p BluRay looks far better than 4k streaming though, streaming services tend to use much newer and efficient codecs, so it's not always as simple as bitrate per pixel.
A 6gb 1080p stream is so much better looking than a 6gb DVD.

Lol they want £30 for a movie, then I am KEEEPING that movie, £30 for a rental is stupidly expensive. I also fail to see the justification for the high price beyond you get to see it at home a few months earlier than if you bought it on Blu-ray. Oh and poor choice on Suicide Squad for the pic, I wouldn't pay .30p to see that let alone £30 to rent it.

The price is stupid, but I'm assuming they know that and that they are gifting high quality sources to people for free.

Probably make enough from legitimate sales at that price to make it worthwhile though.

The problem with this model is that the movie houses see nothing in revenue from ticket sales the first two weeks of a release. All the ticket sales goes straight to whichever major studio released the film (distribution rights). After that two week period, only a portion of the ticket sales in the form of royalties goes to the studios. This also explains why the concession stand prices are as high as they are. They are the main source of revenue for the movie house.

No one in their right mind should even think of paying movie house prices for less than a movie house experience. Then again, how many people are willing to pay Los Angeles or New York movie prices. The only thing I miss is the stadium seating. That method at least assured one that another person's head would not be in the way. This is dead in the water like digital VHS was.

That's the problem... there isn't even an option for it... it's as if they are encouraging us to pirate the movies. As for bluray quality, you should compare the two side by side and be surprised.

one adult admission ticket in LA is almost $20. that's excluding an extra $3 or so for parking with validation. personally i don't really mind if it's $25 for a rental. sometimes it really sucks going to the theater to watch a movie when other ppl being inconsiderate like bringing their little kids or even crying babies. I also don't like the smell of so much buttery popcorn and hearing other ppl munching down on their food. Some theaters stink too.

True, I would have thought one month after release would make more business sense for them.
Our circles only go to cinema houses for two reasons: Our fanboys movies on release, and when ur dating or married as a date night :)
I'm sure this is going to hurt their business models.

Well I pay £16.90 a month for a cinema unlimited card. Meaning I can go as much as I want, to as many movies as I like, even included 3D movies at no extra cost too.

I also get 10% off confectionery, and once you have been a member for a year you get 25% off confectionery. Also you can get upto 30% off food bills at certain restaurants here in the UK ranging from Indian, Italian, and Steak houses too.

For £16.90 a month I will 100% take this over watching a movie at home. Nothing can beat the big screen experience.

All those complaining, there already is a Market for this, it is called Prima Cinema. Do you think Hollywood would bite the hand that feeds them, This system will cost you a measly 35k that's for the set top box and 500 dollars a movie, and don't think you will take it to Bob's either because it has a nice accelerometer you move it, it Bricks and they have to come and in brick it .

$35,000 for just the player and then $500 for each rental, this is an option for the average joe? Get serious.

Anyone who takes this option seriously will never be caught dead in a movie house. Movie houses are for the peasantry.

EDIT: rental is not what one thinks when rental is heard...this is the per viewing price.
