In relation to the topic title, my question is can I make the monitor enter sleep mode with both DVI and HDMI ports in use? Besides simply turning it off lol.

Just to give more info, the DVI is for the PC and the HDMI is being used with a cable box. It's a 27" Asus 1440p monitor.

I can understand why it would go to the hdmi when the dvi signal enters power saving mode, but I just want it to be able to enter power saving mode with both plugged in.

From a technical point of view what you want should work. I am also going to presume your

The only thing I can think of is the video scaler ASUS used in the monitor is sensing load across all ports instead of each port independently, it would make for faster switching between inputs their way.

I would look for some sort of power saving setting in your cable box that may help you out.

I'll check out the cable box, but normally the cable box is powered off. It's just an HDMI box.
