Ok so I am about to buy a gaming laptop (Alienware m17x R4) and I was wondering what is the best configuration to go with gpu wise,

    1. 660m
    2. 670m
    3. 675m.
    4. 680m
    5. 7970m

Now I heard that the 670m and 675m are still fermi based.. which makes no sense at all, and the kepler based are the 670mx and 675mx and the 680m and 680mx, so I would like some clarity on this because I'm not sure how accurate that is.. haha, also the 7970m is a no brainer to me because it is the best bang for your buck.

    Am I missing something?

    Someone please clarify...

670m and 675m are very much kepler based, the others are all fermi

check out http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-675MX.82580.0.html to help clarify things for yourself

as for best, it's just 7970m vs 680m, there's about a $200 price rise on the 680m, but the difference in performance isn't that large, but you have (much) better drivers and physx support

    the m17x r4 is wasted on a 660m though, or a 670m
