Microsoft will not release the Windows 10X operating system as earlier speculated. The new information became apparent in a short passage hosted on the official blog post of the company. ...

    Just read this on how-to-geek...

"Some software that requires deep access to Windows—like anti-cheat and anti-piracy tools, especially in older PC games—won’t be supported. These tools frequently cause problems on Windows 10, anyway. Thurrott has more of the details Microsoft announced."

Does not sound like a very gamer friendly Os.

I wish Microsoft had a "clean" version of Windows 10, without caring for all the compatibility crap.

Hey I'd buy a non-telemetry version if it existed, there's a lot of junk in windows 10 that has no purpose other than Microsoft wants it there.

When Microsoft cancels something, it is standard operating procedure and a Microsoft thing.

it wasn't intended for gamers, it was intended for dual screen notebooks and tablets.

Isn't compatibility 90% of the reason to use Windows in the first place? So get rid of that and suddenly, you've got an undesirable OS.

I do agree that having a "clean" version, stripped of everything but the bare essentials, would be nice.

Windows is great with multimedia and the best tuned desktop OS by far.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic because both of those statements couldn't be further from the truth...
    EDIT:
It's "fine" with multimedia, but far from great.
If by "best tuned" you mean in terms of hardware optimization, that's objectively false.
If by "best tuned" you mean in terms of workflow and usability, that's a matter of preference.

I just hate Windows OS. Instead of getting better it gets worse. Those freaking automatic updates and M$ spyware is annoying to say the least. Wish there was other OS to choose from. Yeah I know about Linux, but they are not there yet.

Because it is largely a waste of disk space. It has a good intention: keep outdated versions of libraries and system files, just in case. But it gets pretty ridiculous when that folder alone can sometimes make up the majority of the disk space consumed by the OS, for a "just in case" feature.
I don't think it needs to go away but it's poorly executed.

Space occupied by WinSxS is not only DLL deltas, but also (moslly) compressed Windows image components (component store which is NOT the Microsoft store app) for installation of additional services and future. Pretty ridiculous people today rants about 4-5GB of "wasted" of (not objective opinion) space for disabled components and features while they have gazillion of crap installed or cached by third party programs, especially considering modern storages solutions. Plus DLL deltas use hard links to avoid waste of space are hardly above a couple of hundreds MBs on average PC. DLL hardlinks are meant to save space instead of waste it.
