this is bullshit. We are talking about a procreating kernel with a GUI, which most of new elements will be disabled in a week or less by 95% of users. I don't need a damn direct3d 12 gpu for running a desktop and a browser.

Looks all to me a greedy move to let people buy even more hardware now that is damn expensive.

same for direct storages: most of nwem you see on sale are 512GB or less.

They have a health application app. It dictates what you can or you can't do. I am already searching for a 20-1 tpm 2.0 module or I am off to buy a new rig. Life is a disaster now with Noobyia Idiotella.

I bet a disassembler and a hex editor (not for sure VS code that is a piece of JS junk) will frack nadella's ass well enough without lube. and this in case I cannot remove the module with powershell (old powershell, not that piece of junk that comes with "new" terminal which is a never-ending source of JS bugs).

as a I said.. this is like the paste&copy for hardware requiriments of OEMs, windows 10 already requires tpm 2.0 for new OEM devices ( page 33) https://download.microsoft.com/download/c/1/5/c150e1ca-4a55-4a7e-94c5-bfc8c2e785c5/Windows 10 Minimum Hardware Requirements.pdf

I bet it will be the same for 11 and always will be unless they wanna cut like 50% of potential costumer, OEM included, in some countries like Russia and China.

I bet 2.0 is required if you WANT to use TPM since Microsfot should have removed SHA-1 encryption support with tpm 1.2, so 2.0 is required or nada.

and that's why if you WANT to use TPM (2.0) you need secure boot.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/wi...protection/tpm/tpm-recommendations#why-tpm-20

Pretty sure there will be tons of workarounds for non-supported hardware, like the deletion of the appraiserres.dll (which checks for TPM 2.0 or PTT) from the ISO to install 11.

I was reading it was for the end of the year (haven't heard it during the showtime, but i wasn't following carefuly)

Edit : My bad, it's the news title that is confusing. It's the "Fall Update" then, not the Spring !

Bingo, TPM 2.0 it is not required to run the OS, it is required to run TPM features:
Same as current version of Windows 10. Page 12: https://download.microsoft.com/download/7/8/8/788bf5ab-0751-4928-a22c-dffdc23c27f2/Minimum Hardware Requirements for Windows 11.pdf

Guys this is the end. Windows will always check compatibility reasons and will block updates. If you need a secure PC you must revert.

Microsoft is killing privacy and I do not know if people could sue them. Why the system check for compatibility? Let me take the risk if I want to. I won't seek your support.

They shouldn't force people to not use a program.

For example they kicked all dev users with older hardware out and tell us to revert to windows 10. I feel like wtf? They show their respect to our efforts using alpha software like this? Smooth and easy life.

I don't know what's going on, but Microsoft seem to be losing the plot. The whole attraction of Windows used to be that you could install it on virtually any hardware, as long as your PC could POST. Whether you wanted high end gaming, or just a typewriter, Windows had you covered. This? This I don't get, but maybe they got tired of being the go-to OS for the masses.

These are OEM requirements, not home builder requirements, nothing has changed from windows 10.

That may be the case, but they are doing a really bad job communicating it

anyone reading this page is going to think is that they need tpm 2.0 and should buy a new "windows 11 compatible pc"

Looks like the added an additional requirement for x64 CPUs: the support of SSE 4.1 (instead of 2.0).. but I really doubt that it will cause issues outside software video decoding (if no hardware or custom lib decoding is available).

which is a bad summary from OEMs full devices hardware specification requirements. which also states that TPM support must first be according to local laws, which may also not allow it at all. and also an option to disable it may be present but not required.
