I doubt they had a single store in all of the Nordic countries. No big loss, for sure, except for the employees laid off.

The steady growth of e-commerce has been escalated even more by the COVID-19, resulting in a total boom. I'm not surprised by this news at all, this will be a common sight across the whole market.

What did these stores even sell that places like Best Buy and Microcenter didn't?

The PCs and laptops they sold (and that you can also get from microsoft's online store) have only the OS on them, with no additional crapware, third-party AV software, etc. installed. Pure windows and only Windows.

Ok, but nothing is stopping you from doing a clean install from some win 10 media when you get the PC home and are setting it up. Mildly inconvenient, but still less inconvenient than going specifically to a MS store to achieve the same goal.
