As despicable as it is to enable these kinds of things without confirming it with users first, this is rule #1 of telemetry. Invisible telemetry is the most effective at actually returning information. I hate Microsoft so much for this nonsense, but at the same time, I accept that it's their software and they can do whatever they want. If I don't like it, I can complain, but ultimately I'm responsible for finding different software to use or just accepting it.

Greyed out settings in Win 10 are usually due to anti spying programs, and changes to group policy

That´s why Windows has auto updates that the user can´t control... So they can do everything that they want!...

And then people are surprised so many don´t want to move to W10...

After seeing a post on Reddit - who cares if M$ is trying to monitor you - According to a recent REDDIT post - Intel has it all built in to the CPU so you can't disable or firewall any monitoring out.

Windows 7 is the best OS right now (for windows users) and will remain to be until its EOL date. I will not use Windows 10 after, I can assure you all of that.

Lucky only if you have not updated windows 7 sp1, when win10 was released windows 7 got keylogger updates too, just you do not have any fancy button in control panel... (besides that button do not stop keylogger, service is still on)

What’s really crazy is that there are still people using Windows after all that Microsoft has done.

Just shmoogle for "O&O ShutUp 10". Use recommended preset to disable the feature and other similar spying features for good.

So what? Every single one of you out there are using Google or Mozilla account and synchronize your browsers or emails everywhere any device, they are holding all your data and I ensure you there is no single aspect of privacy.

Having spying features built into a CPU, doesn't get around a proper firewall. CPU only affects the hardware it controls.

This has happened repeatedly. I've seem my privacy options reset at least 3 times since using Windows 10. It was probably more times than that but I never bothered check.

Oh and as a heads up to anyone who think they have the forced reboot (the 15 minute timer of death) disabled in the Task Scheduler, it enables itself again after updates as well. Thanks Microsoft, I sure needed my PC shut down in the middle of work.

For anyone wondering it's in Task Scheduler Library > Microsoft > Windows > UpdatedOrchestrator

Windows 10 does what it wants, user has no control of it.

Not all the spying features Windows 10 has and will have. Plus you still have control of Windows 7.

Linux is looking more and more appealing every day now.

From what i've seen, unless you're running Enterprise or maybe also Education edition, you really don't have as much control over this mess as you should. And even then there's more going on then meets the eye in any "settings" or gpedit areas. The windows 10 telemetry rabbit hole goes so deep, and is so dynamic, at some point you just want to say, screw it i just want to use my PC.

You mean you will be forced to use it in 2020.

Unless you want go Linux and play the 1,5 Games that support it.

Good luck taking control of an EOL product, it's more like hackers will take control of you as time passes.
