This might be that final thing that forces me to upgrade my cpu/mobo/ram. Which i hadn't done in a few years. nice ivy with a z77 should do the trick.

Pedantic, but should it be Pawel? Looks very atmospheric, might get this, and finally finish the original!

Couldn't get in to Metro 2033, however I have reinstalled and am trying to get in to it. With the death of Stalker the Metro games look like the only place to get my Russian based post apocalypse fix.

It does look good. But outside of a new watch and being able to wipe moisture off your gas mask I don't see alot of innovation. Seems like more of the same...

I was especially impressed by the plane scene. Was like having a front row seat to the beginning of the apocalypse. Cool idea

After seeing this video, I decided to finally get the original Metro 2033 and play it through. Now I see why they still use a 2 year old game in video card reviews, because to my amazement it has the ability to cripple my GTX 680 @ 1920x1200 w/highest graphics setting, 4xMSAA, 16xAF, PhysX, Tessellation, (DOF off). Running the Benchmark with those settings gets me an average of 58fps, where about 2/3 of the way through i hit a low point of 29fps.

Interesting though that when I copy the exact same settings found HERE in this GTX 680 review... my system which has far slower memory, system bus, and a 3 generation old i7 860 @ 3.6ghz.... destroys the 1080p scores in that review. hmm...

It'll be the newer drivers you're using.

Same, the set-piece gameplay killed it, i hope this isn't the same.

I have played the Stalker series. But Metro 2033 beats it hands down for me.

Metro 2033 is actually probably my favorite game of all time. Yes I've played all of the Stalker series and I still prefer Metro, I also read the book and understand it's a very loose recreation. The story, the whole underlying morality, interesting weapons, great sound design and graphics, cool characters. It was a bit rough and on rails but I still loved it and I really can't wait for Last Light. (I just hope it responds better to Nvidia cards than 2033)

I dont know why you compare Stalker with Metro, they are different games.
