Absolutely, it makes pretty little sense, they have a voice actor for him and all so why not. The game lampshades it a couple times throughout the game by saying you're "doing the silent thing" again.
I don`t mind the silent protag thing in my games. With a fully fleshed out voiced character I find it odd to try to feel like I am them. Artyom as is allows me to immerse and think I am the ingame persona. For me, the way it was done was fine. As always.... ymmv. ;p
A silent protagonist is fine, there's nothing inherently wrong with the concept. It all depends on how the protagonist interacts with the world and vice versa. It can sometimes be awkward when mishandled, but nowadays I actually prefer avatars that keep their mouth shut, to some writer trying to be funny/edgy all the time, or just keeping them blabbering for the sake of noise (The New Colossus, Dead Space 3, etc.).
There's a few points in this though where artyom's companions are concerned over if he's dead or not and are comming in to check this and he just keeps silent haha
The night vision goggles/ gameplay to me was very satisfying especially with silenced weapons or knives. Reminds me of back when I used to play the original splinter cell games from years ago. Also, it seems this style of gameplay is almost forcefully encouraged due to the very negative story consequences for not playing many portions of the game stealthily / non-lethal.
This game gives me the creeps, especially when underground looking for stuff, u know what i mean...it just gives me the creeps
only part "creeped" me out was the very last level with the "flashbacks" or wth ever was going on there with everything floating and the lights and etc. The underground stuff meh as often as i got lost in some of those bits creep does not come to mind .
Yeah this one was the least spooky for me, wasn't until the last level that it got remotely into the more horror like stuff and even then it was pretty tame. I think the biggest spook thing in the game is when the human like monsters suddenly become good at hiding in the second open world area in the desert Either that or playing all 3 in a row desensitizes you to it
I'm in the Caspian level now and I love it.Like watching the geysers at night, the sound is awesome in this game.
Hehh, I finished the game too soon I think. Now I have nothing to play! Very good game though, I am thoroughly impressed. Didn't get the ending I needed but frack it, it was either me or them!
Edit: Well before you read this post about ways to return back through many of the areas in Taiga be advised that large parts of structures are missing in the southern parts. I guessing that's due to the way I sneak back into areas we once thought were blocked off when going north to south back toward the start. It or something corrupted some of the graphics in buildings and some bridges too. Damn. Oh well at least here's how to go back through most of Taiga. For those who replay Taiga there are ways to go back to more previous areas than was thought before. This is not a challenge to any previous post in the thread that said there are too many blocked off returns to previous areas in Taiga. But instead of being around 6 blocked off return points, it's now down to 2 or 3 blocked off areas to return too. So I've found out you can return back to other areas in the middle of Taiga by jumping in the water along the shore of the big lake as I'll describe below. One way to make use of the stuff I posted below is to create a custom save in the large factory area in northern Taiga. And from that save you can go back all the way through Taiga. But putting custom saves into the saves directory can be a hassle. So instead can use chapter replay and proceed up to the large factory or anywhere before it. And then you are able to go back as described below through all those areas to the start and even go forward again all the way up to the large factory and back and forth. And that's all without loading any saves while roaming around and/or playing missions. And it offers the same access to areas as the custom save I mentioned. Ok again before you get into this remember this is for players who don’t mind replaying Taiga from chapter restart. Or who don't mind creating a custom save in the large factory area in northern Taiga. It won't work if you resume play in the end boss area or in the tunnels right before it because there is no way that I know of to return to the large factory complex from that area. Hence you need to be willing to use chapter replay or the custom save I mentioned. I divided Taiga into 9 areas, and 3 of them have blocked off points of return to the previous area. And 6 of them, in the middle part of Taiga, are open to return to and go back and forth between them. Those 6 are all continuous for roaming, so there's no blocked access in the middle of them. So I'll start from the end of Taiga listing all 9 of them and numbered in descending order because the focus is on returning back to previous areas. Although I do mention how to go in both directions or back and forth travel from one area to an adjacent area. Area 9: This is the final area with the huge bearish beast creature boss fight and the chasm in the middle of the level. The door at the start of it is locked and I'm sure it's 0 percent chance of anyone getting through or around it to get into the previous area of the tunnels and road along the cliffs. That I'm even mentioning this end area at all is because if someone finds a way back past the door please post it even though we know it's not going to happen but there's a faint hope. Area 8: This area has the tunnels and the road on the side of the huge cliffs which overlook the big factory below. From here there's no way IMO to return to the previous area (the big factory.) I've tried going along the several hundred meters at the bottom of the cliffs and I can't find any way to get to the big factory. That includes going as high as I can on the cliffs southward where there are some cool looking ruins. Then at the bottom of those cliffs to the south where the views are amazing from the shores. But I can't get to the large factory complex even though I get within a couple meters of the walkways. I hope someone can find a way but it looks very highly unlikely. From Area 7 all the way to Area 2 they all have return access to the previous area as well as the the next area with the exception of no return to Area 1. It provides six areas of free roam. Three of the return points are a bit tricky but still doable as described later. So these six areas are the main reason for this post. Area 7: The big factory area. From anywhere is this area you can go all the way back through the six free roam areas which takes you even back to the start of Taiga (Area 1) where you got off the train. But of course don't take the zip line to Area 8 unless you intend to go forward. Going back to Area 6 (the lake town) is a little tricky. The wood gates are locked. So move the rowboat to the left side of the gate and jump over the mesh to the left of the gate and into the water and it will put you on a walkway in the lake town. As mentioned it may take a couple or so tries. Area 6: The lake town. From here back to Area 5 is a no brainer, you can just go to the lake shore and up the rope ladder to Area 5. If instead you want to go forward to Area 7 you still can even though your rowboat is now located on the north side of the locked gate. You jump off a northern walkway into the water closest to your rowboat and it will put you back in the rowboat after the cutscene that shows you floundering around like a physically challenged squid. Area 5: The area with the highest tower in Taiga. From here heading south to Area 4 is easy by just going south down the hills. And equally easy to go forward to Area 6 if you want via the rope ladder. Area 4: The fort with several wood walkways. From here it gets tricky to cross south to Area 3. You have to go south along the bottom of a cliff on the east side of the area. It's along the lake shore where you jump into the water. After the animation where you flail around like a green noodle it lands you forward a few meters further south on the shore which also happens to be on the other side (the south side) of the cliffs and into Area 3. Going north from Area 3 to Area 4 is still possible as in the first time you played: go through the tunnel in the cliffs to the west. Area 3: Forested area with the packs of wolves. From here it's another tricky jump into the water to get to Area 2 to the south. This time you cross the river at the south end of Area 3. Cross at the very east end of the river where it meets the huge lake. You have to cross along the logs in the water to the very south end of the southernmost log. From the end of that log jump south into the water and after the annoying animation it will put you on the opposite shore of the river and in Area 2. Going from Area 2 north to Area 3 using the same logs is probably not going work even though I tried. So there are one or two places to the west where you can cross the river by swimming with the cutscene into Area 3 from Area 2. Area 2: This area has the tower structure and the long log which crosses a river further south. The tower is at the northern side of Area 2 not far from the river which forms the northern boundary of Area 2. Edit: Area 1: You can actually go back to Area 1, the start. I incorrectly said you can't return to the start area. And you can re-walk to Area 2 again if you want and continue all the way up to the big factory in Area 7 using the methods I described above for the tricky movements. So there are six connected areas for roaming back and forth but again I'm not trying to say a previous post was wrong about there being numerous blocked off return access places. There are still two or three blocked off places of return and to me that's two or three too many. But at least there's the group of six areas with connected free roaming.
Load times are pretty quick for me, 1tb ssd (Crucial M550), and it runs fine in UW (3440x1440), Ultra settings, Dx11 (Win 7), Hair + Tess on, got it capped at 60, and getting anywhere from 50-60 outdoors, indoors, its pretty much pegged @ 60. https://i.**********/W1KszwJY/Exodus-FPS.jpg I just can't seem to get into it though for some reason, just been wandering about, searching all the derelict houses, just picking up all the crafting stuff (which i havn't quite sussed out yet).
I played it first on my Acer XR341CK 21:9 monitor + RX VEGA64 setup, was in my usual Rambo mode so I basically fragged anyone who happened to get in my way. Needless to say, due to Metro being true to its morality-based gameplay, I got the bad ending I so richly deserved. Decided to play the good guy in my next playthrough (oddly enough, I felt I owed it to Artyom and Anna to have a good ending, that's how invested I was in their characters), this time I played it on my 32:9 Samsung LC49HG90 monitor + VEGA II rig (adjusted FOV value to accommodate the wider aspect ratio). I just marveled at how gorgeous the scenes before me was, although I'd played it already, but there's something about seeing the game again in a new light due to the 32:9 aspect ratio. Played it through with just killing bandits (when I had to) and nobody else, and got the happy ending I felt Artyom and Anna deserved.
Anyone who own the game you view the size of the executable file?Because will be interesting to see the real size of exec file after they removed infested code with denuvo.
Another recent game had it removed and the exe decreased by about 200mb Edit. Also sonic mania had it removed as well it went from 100mb to 3mb
