I love what they've done to the game. More I play, more I appreciate the enhanced lighting. It's a pure eye-candy for graphic whores. HDR10 complements its enhanced RT lighting so well that it looks unreal.

Here's another comparison video which I don't think it's been posted.

Lets be fair here, a graphics card operating in a stable state doesn't crash in a way that is "clock sensitive", some games are just better able to expose bad vendor (and driver timing) tuning than others.

I do not buy anything with an OC for that reason, gpu's are too expensive to be procreating around with vendors who trick customers into clockspeeds they don't even need and won't even measure outside of 3dmark.

Just done the bit where you find Katya and Astya, the lighting coming through the windows looks superb, and i still can't believe how well its running, belting along it is! :D

It's become quite the edgy/ hipster thing to say that a remake/ remaster looks worse than the original. People should point out why something looks worse. Are the textures actually worse, or did the new, more accurate lighting model simply shine a light on them?

Unless 4A re-did their AA solution, it should not look more blurry. The DLSS implementation is much better than the original. All I'm saying it point to reasons why you say something looks worse.

Try and find some videos on YouTube of a game dev making their game in the engine editor, all the assets look like their from a PS2 game until they are lit aesthetically by the artists.

I will say that it is funny how RE8 can go well over 8GB of VRAM, yet this game even with ray tracing is more around 6 GB or less.

Raytracing has nothing to do with VRAM usage, in case of RE8 it's all due to high asset density and them using Quixel Megascans textures extensively so the cost stacks up quickly, especially if you set texture pool size high enough.

Metro on the other hand, the textures are kinda hit and miss depending on asset and generally it's not as densely packed as RE8 since it's more of an actual open hub area game than set of narrowish intertwined corridors.

2060 6gb have some issues with wolfenstein too while 2070 was fine. In resident evil enabling raytracing also increases the memory usage. I can imagine not running well.

All RT benchmarks show that RT adds like 1 GB of VRAM usage.

Orginal ftw, the enhanched one looks out of place idk the color tone is to real and to greyish. Almost looks like some one urinated the game and call it a enhanced edition. Also contrast is way off in the enhanced edition for me.
2:08 snow is actual snow not like yellowish, but thats just my opinion.

Yeah, the "enhanced" edition is so much more blurry and lacks alot of fine detail. And lighting just looks... off... in alot of places.

By few comparison i saw online i also prefer the original version. Saturation seems off, snow is yellow, sand is white. Also, wtf is happening with shadows? Original looks more natural.

I just made an interesting observation - it appears that in this "enhanced" edition, texture resolution is tied to internal render resolution.

So if i use 4k res with quality dlss (which has an internal resolution of 1440p) i get the same texture quality as using 1440p res. You can see it most clearly on the wall of rocks in the bagground.

    Native 4k

4k with ultra performance dlss (720p internal render res)

    Native 1080p

So with native 4k, the image and textures are closer to being as sharp as with dx11 vanilla, but still not quite. But it seems it's mostly down to how the engine does textures (retardly) and the "wonderful" dlss.

Just like cyberpunk ought to have a proper slider for LOD, this game ought to have a seperate texture setting, rather than it being tied to resolution.

Edit : most of the shadow crawling in the enhanced edition goes away by disabling dlss aswell. Gotta love the proprietary nvidia tech... lol.

Isn't that the case with all dlss supported games?
Who needs dlss when you can just spend two thousand dollars on a gpu anyways?
end of the day nvidia does it best.
