umm you sure about that phill? cause I understood the story 100% and makes sense if actually pay attention to the cut scenes.
The first stalker was pretty fine, it's Clear Sky that was insanely buggy. But it's partially caused by the AI, the faction wars added alot of complexity to it.
Yes if you like corridor shooters with strange story's. The graphics are very good though and played well on my system on High. I enjoy playing it an it took me 10 hours to finish.
Uh NO. The game is essentially a story driven on the rails FPS shooter (read Half Life.) So I was shocked to find it feels amazingly detached from your user inputs. The guns feels like they are doing nothing half the time. The character movement feels amazingly sluggish and unresponsive, which is fine if the enemies move like that however they don't and whilst the health system is great at trying to increase the game's atmosphere it leaves ou feeling detached and confused about the status of your character. Put it this way you heal yourself but half the time you are left wondering 'did I just heal myself or not, did that actually do anything?' Finally the AI is truly moronic. Which is fine from the point of view of the bad guys (just gives me more to shoot) but when it comes to friendlies and specifically friendlies that you are required to protect to continue progress. Well terminally depressed lemmings have more fundamental survival instincts. In essence I installed the game two days after launch. Got as far as my first escort section, where you accompany some guy past some destroyed train carriages. You then get attacked by two or three mutants and no matter what I do I either get killed or my escort he gets killed, after ten attempts I gave up and haven't played it since. The game may get amazing after that point, I dunno I don't think I'll ever bother finding out.
would you be running real fast if you had all the gear that Dmitri had on?he has a lot of gear that would be heavy and sluggish running seems right to me.
I never had any issues with the player movement feeling sluggish. Felt pretty solid and responsive to me. Also, yeah... the weapons are pretty weak. But they are not top end hardware, most of them are pieced together. With low quality munition that does just a little damage.
Weapons aren't weak, the hitboxes are just insanely small and there's the annoying fact that if u hit a helmet instead of the actual flesh of a head, it won't kill them.
Just picked up my copy of Metro 2033, doesn't even work, lol I launch the game, then in the menu it will crash and say Metro 2033 has encountered an illegal operation and has shut down, the usual message... So if the game doesn't even work, how can I try it!
While I did say the weapons are weak... I also said it was because of the poor ammunition, which is true. Also, I had no problems with the hitboxes in the game. Try to verify the game's cache, and also restart STEAM. Restarting STEAM itself is usually a really quick, simple way to fix a wide list of issues.
just got this game. so far i am liking it very much. plays great on my system XP dx9, settings all on high. even very high settings are not to bad on my rig, but not quite smooth enough for my tastes.
try updating Direct X then restart then try again also try reinstalling the phyx.I have the same issue every time I reformat my pc and I normally have to download a certain phys x dll that is some how missing from the windows folder even after I install phys x.
don't know if your doing what I mentioned kane but take a read at this link. http://www.guruht.com/2010/03/metro-2033-startup-error-blackscreen.html
Yeah, it does it until you manually (re)install the latest PhysX runtime. The one from Metro 2033\Install directory will do as well. EDIT: Damn, just when I finished AvP and decided to finally play Metro, SC2 arrived and simply pwned me with its epicness, can't resist its evil magick :nerd: So, once again - until better times, Metro... :wanker:
Thanks for the link, I will uninstall the game and start from the beginning and see if theres any change...
I enjoyed the game. The story is kept varied with the missions you perform. Graphics are incredible. Probably most realistic PC game thus far. Lighting and shadow blew me away the most. This is the only game that has ever been able to make me feel claustrophobic and semi depressed due to the foreboding environment. But it is a very powerful tool within the game. So you have to embrace it. I think it's totally worth it.
http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/64948 Some further details on the "Ranger" DLC, coming quite soon. EDIT: Hmm, maybe I posted in the wrong Metro thread.
