    hey quick noob question.I switched my memory timings from 5-5-5-18 to 4-4-4-12 and I noticed that the frequency was 400 mhz.So does that mean it is running 800 mhz affective? My memory was advertised on tigerdirect 800mhz 6400 with 4-4-4-12 timings.Am I supposed to set the frequency to 800mhz or leave it at 400?

    DDR = Double Data Rate = 400*2 = 800MHz

    Well, this seems to be the proper thread to ask this *I might have overlooked posts already mentioning this but I'll start here* - I just bought new memory look left what they are - I couldn't fit anymore letters there so here's the MH they can handle and timings I currently use:

    Memory can run at 1800MHz
    I currently have it running at 1600 (my CPU is still being tested how high I can go on air)
    Timings are currently 7-7-7-20 (default is 9-9-9-24)

    My question is, how tight can I go on the memory timings ? Memory is also cooled by the coller that came with the sticks. My goal is to get the timing around 5-5-5-16, but I am not sure if they can handle this, as I haven't really played around with timings previously.

    5,5,5,16 will be virtually impossible mate. If your running 7,7,7,20 already your doing quite well. Basically there is no definitive answer as to how high your memory will clock, trial and error will tell you that.

    What voltage are you giving them?

    Voltage is set to auto in BIOS, so I'm not sure what they actually run at. There're no hickups at all so far on current settings. I'm guessing somewhere between 1.5 and 1.8(that's what is printed on the memory V1.8)

    you should try upping your voltage to maybe 1.9 or 2.0.

    The thing to do is to find the voltage voltage specs for your modules from the manufacturer's site and set the vdimm accordingly in BIOS.
