    So far i tried the 185.85 , the 175.16, same bs.
    I never had this problem with XP, but on vista all of this is going on :(

    I've had this problem in FarCry, too. It was not a driver problem, though. I'm not sure though whether this was caused by one of the patches or an in-game setting. Iirc, it was a setting.

    I installed the 1.4 cumulative patch, the 64-bit texture add-on/patch and then after starting a new game and exiting the game again, I used this config, too:

    I am too lazy with install all those patches , etc lol. i won't worry about it anymore, i am buying a quad core later this year as my secondary rig and i plan to install windows 2000 on it, so i will play it then.

    Update: Back to using my HD2400, the problem doesn't exist. So maybe its just with Nvidia cards or that 8400gs.

    Doesn't that occur when you enable HDR + FSAA? I'm sure it's something to do with FSAA and another feature enabled together that causes this problem.....

    Because windows 2000 is really the best OS overall, it plays older games without hassle and win9x games and pretty much all XP/Vista games. Only flaw, you can't get the full Nvidia New CP or the CCC, but you get the old Nvidia CP and you can just use ATT.

    I always wanted a secondary rig anyway just for the older games or games which does not work on my new rig now(because of vista). So i plan to turn the GATEWAY Quad Core 2.5ghz rig into the Ultimate PCI gamer machine, using w2k, and a 8600GT 256MB GDDR3 128bit PCI card & and a Sparkle 9500GT 1GB or something else.


    It may be just because i was using a 8400gs, but back to using my 2400HD, no issues, 1280x1024 Ultra Settings, No AA, 40-120fps.

    And its $hit trying to get any new game working on it, although i managed Grid, Fallout 3, DMC4 and a load of others working it aint easy.

    Btw, i know putting windows 2000 on a quad core may seem backwards lol, should be interesting to see how it works. But if it doesn't work out, no worries, i have xp home edition sp2 and xp pro sp2.

    i went there, its not that striaghtforward with the redirections/wrappers no matter what you say, especially with Windows Live. I got everything i needed working anyway on a crappy laptop while abroad.
    If i remember correctly you need Win2k server to detect the 4 cores

    Guess i will grab what i need. Thanks, i will look into it.

    Btw, the only trouble i had with w2k when i was using it on my Pentium III, well a p3 doesn't have SSE2 or SSE3 so alot of games did not work. But every i tried work just fine with the right dll, etc. I had some issues with Fear 2, took almost a damn week to get it too work lol. But overall i will see how everything goes.

    no just windows 2000 server, dont quote me on that though, its been a long time lol.

    Well yeah, thats the hassle i had, arsing with different dll's, could take 5 mins to a few hours to a few days to get a game working, feckin annoying when you just wanna game.

    Update, seems like i will not be using windows 2000. Those games which does not work on XP, work on Vista. Soooooo i will use XP PRO 64BIT with the Quad core.

    Dude, seriously!! Is this a joke (as always)? Afraid of using newer software which works alot better with your so called quad core, lets say Vista 64 or Windows 7 RC 64?

    Either way, have fun finding decent driver support in XP 64. :banana:

    I am not buying a secondary rig just to use Vista again :wanker:
    Vista is not the best OS if you didn't know and Win7 LOL, no need for it.

    And what do you mean good luck finding decent driver support?
    As from what i can tell, they have drivers just like 32bit.

    Have you even tried the Windows 7 RC? Its far beyond Vista, and 64bit is just nice to have.

    As for driver support, I don't think many companies make drivers for 64bit XP.

    Windows XP x64 was a testbed for Vista x64 ... driver support was poor at best. Personally I don't know why you would install anything other than Vista/Win7 x64... pretty much anything even old games will run on it... and if they don't then I suggest just running VMware.
