7.9 with hd2600 mobility modded to mobility firegl v5600 in maya 2010 (xp64)

    note:

i have such a high score even with my mobility card, because i have altered the opengl capabilities in the workstation profile. it seems like ati does use some kind of compatibility setting for maya. altering these settings speeds up viewport performance.

guess i´ll need to add this result , since it shows quite interesting aspects:

win 7 x64 even seems to be faster than xp64 with the modified atiogl.xml :

    carbench :
    textured - 8.1 fps
    shaded - 9.3 fps
    wire - 63.9 fps

    // edit

a little optimisation of atiogl.xml got me this

    textured - 8.6 fps
    shaded - 10.1 fps
    wire - ~ 65 fps

and thats the config of my machine:

    maya 2009 sp1 - Win7 x64 HP 8510p with T7700(2.4GHZ),Hd2600 mobility(stock clocks 500/600MHZ), 4GB ram
btw. additional info: turned off all the eyecandy in win 7 ( best performance setting), basicly it looks like XP now, and it is even that fast or faster in some demanding graphics intensive tasks

    Hello,
could someone please post a valid link for MayaCarBench.zip? The one posted here is no longer working. I bought a real Firepro 4800 and I would like to compare results. So far I'm disappointed with the card performance...

    Thank you

Thanks a lot!!! I will download it immediately and will try it as soon as I can (right now I am very busy at work)!

So I had the chance to try the scene!
I got very disappointing results with standard ati atiogl.xml

    4.4 textured
    4.6 shaded
    32 wire

Then I tried with schoko's modified atiogl.xml and got a HUGE improvement

    7.4 textured
    8.6 shaded
    110(!) wire

I just did a quick test! Will investigate further when I have more time!

PS Also tried to remove textures but it did not make any difference in my case

    winXP_32, Athlon X2 64, hd4850@v8700 (8.603) Maya 2011
    shaded - 5.7
    wire - 65
compared to other results - not bad for 6 year old machine :)

    updated:
    successfully installed 8.723 drivers (win7x64, hd4850 -> v8700) with right atilog.xml. MayaCarBench:
    - textured - 6.2
    - "use default material" - 72
    - wireframe - 90
    not bad really! :)

    updated:
imported by FBX into Softimage 2011. viewport speed on hd4850-clean and modded to v8700:
    textured - 9.6
    shaded - 12.1
    wireframe - 19.3

as You see - no difference, i guess that atiogl.xml not fully "correct". i almost never use clean wireframe mode, at least shaded. so i dont see any advantage of quadro-firepro in Softimage. overclocked CPU - is my choice.

    updated:
imported by FBX into 3Ds Max 2011. viewport speed on hd4850:
    textured - 15
    wireframe - 26

hm.... DirectX King of the Hill?
