So with DAYS left..do you think that Mantle will appear in december as originally 'announced'?
I voted for yes because they told us so, but I doubt it.
It's almost January (2014) so probably it won't be released until then. (?)
Lol of course not.
I think any delay could have as much to do with the BF4 bugs needing to be fixed first. It's probably due to more pressing issues with the game at dice rather than any problem from AMD's side.
The game has been clearly broken since day 1 so there is no chance of it being released any time soon.
I can guarantee it won't appear this month.
As Roy says January!
Oh? BF4 is broken? Haven't noticed.
Playing it sinds day one, sure dying/getting hit behind cover is annoying but i don't think it's game breaking.
For many the game appears broken, to the point that the devs have put a hold on all dlc.
They don't do that for nothing you know?
Mantle will come, and we will see if it's a succes or not.
It's really not that bad imo, it's very much playable.
I sure hope it comes December. only 4 days left. But I doubt it. maybe on December 31 it will come
Ok...I'll bite...who the F is 'Roy'??? :eyes:
oh yeah...Truaudio...I wonder how that will work with an existing soundcard already?? My Essence STX owns anything else I've ever heard, so this could be interesting...or a complete meh Will be interesting to see, err hear
Then you have no idea what TruAudio is.
My guess is that Mantle will come in January, most people are not working these days, even if 50% were no way somebody would release a patch between Christmas and New Year. The optimistic choice would be mid-January.
And yes, BF4 is still bugged, it amazes me how smooth things are in BF3 and how broken they are in BF4. BF4 was definetly marketing driven.
I don't believe Mantle will release until Battlefield 4 is repaired, and looking at the amount of bugs, it might take a while.
From what I gathered there are two different teams: the one that EA assigned to the Frostbite Engine project (so that they no longer have to pay Unreal Engine fees or develop several in-house engines) and another one that deals with BF4. My guess is that Mantle is assigned to the first team so it does not have anything to do with the state BF4 is in.
While the last patch seems to have resolved all my crashes, the network sync issues ("netcode", "instakill", "getting shot behind cover") and the "ERROR Game disconnected: could not join server" issue still remain and are pretty much the worst offenders from my point of view.
Anyway, I am planning to get a 290(X) but I am waiting for
b) Custom cooled solutions.
Or maybe Catalys 13.12 solved the crashes. Release notes state: "Resolves intermittent crashes experienced with Battlefield 4 on Windows 8 based systems".
I got my Gigabyte 280x Ver 1.0 before I realized there was a ver 2.0 already...but I have yet to be able to make my card go over 71oC....runs like glass on BF4 on max detail...and you are right, I dont know a lot about Truaudio...I'll look more into it in the coming days though.
Only 290 and 290X have TruAudio sadly.
TLDR: Basically the Radeon card only does DSP as part of TrueAudio ("various effects can be processed by the dedicated circuits on the video card"), therefore it will work with any soundcard and type of output (digital/analog). It is pretty much back to the old days of EAX and A3D only the DSP is on the video card this time and is much more powerfull.
and the 260.
You mean Mantle for Bf4, right? better change the title
btw Mantle api is already out and its been since last 3-4 months
