they are trying to show cpu limited situations...
I found this:
Update from AMD:
"During the QA process, we identified an installation issue in AMD Catalyst 14.1 that renders it unsuitable for distribution for testing in your labs. We are testing a new build overnight and will update you on its status by mid-afternoon Eastern Standard Time on January 31. We apologize for the delay and appreciate your patience and understanding."
"AMD told TechPowerUp that their teams have been working overnight to fix the driver, and should have their next status update for us by mid-afternoon EST (New York time), later today. That update doesn’t necessarily mean a driver release at that point in time, and so AMD might be forced to label it Catalyst 14.2 beta, keeping up with its calendar-based driver version naming. Catalyst 14.1 beta was expected to ship the first public distribution of Mantle, AMD’s ambitious 3D graphics API to rival Direct3D and OpenGL.
AMD also mentioned a 24 hour exclusive period for press to evaluate the driver before public release, so it looks like your download will be at least 36 hours away."
I was glad to find that the 280x WILL be supported at launch
aww..and they closed my new poll, oh well no biggie
i hope someday before the END OF THE WORLD, AMD will include 6xxxHD cards to be mantle supported.
AMD Radeon Graphics ***8207;@AMDRadeon 23h
However, we are working with EA to further optimize performance on 280X, 270X, HD 7000 and HD 8000. (2/2) ^HJL
kinda surprising..considering EA doesn't really listen to anyone ...*track record*
my 2 x Saphire R9 290´s BF4 Edition shipped and i will get them tommarow  as DHL still works on saturday in germany
Are you gonna be running 2x290's with a Q6600?
I wanna see the mantle benchmarks
i did not update my specs in Guru3d i have i7 3930k CPU
There should be a press update this afternoon
Interesting to see the benchmarks from hardware sites, though it seems clear that high end GPUs will benefit the most from Mantle.
Apparently Dragon Age Inquisition will be released on Q3, so at least one promising game with Mantle support in 2014.
Update by AMD Gaming on Facebook a minute ago...
^ That's what one get for having open window for too long and getting post blocked
Funny thing is that post above has 2 minutes older time stamp than AMD Gaming FB actual post.
They deleted and re-posted due to a typo... it was "process" instead of "progress" first. I edited my post accordingly.
it reduces cpu overhead, so anytime you are cpu limited. the overhead of direct x has always been on the cpu, you never needed a much more powerful gpu to match console like performance (last gen 720p or less, 30 fps or less, low settings towards the end of the gen), but you did need a much better cpu and more ram.
Maybe they will make it and it will be released today. Just late.
Not really late for me. There's a little over 12 hours left in the day for me to make that January time frame
They won't make the January timeframe, they've been testing the drivers overnight, if ok, then now the press get 24hrs to evaluate them before we get them, so they'll not be released till Feb (as its the last day of Jan today, when the press are to start their 24hrs), and will be called the 14.2s.
Mantle is released! Released like a fox that is
