Something that I spotted on the BF4 subreddit might be of interest to you guys. It only mentions an ETA for the demo, not the drivers.

Lol that is the reason why they said it will be released in January. They just release a half finished driver which supports "some" cards.

Well, you basically bought a renamed HD7970... No offense but that's the reason I sold my 2x 7970's, I never believed they would get as good support as R9 290 cards.

Does this means only in BF4 or Mantle generally... So Starswarm would still work?

    what do you mean?
newer gpu users get better drivers than the rest of us, something like that?
or just they have more features?

It means that the R9 280X is just an HD7970 with a different name, there's not much more to add to the 7970's, they already give all their potential, R9 290's however, have much more headroom.

I think starswarm will still work on the 7970 etc, but don't hold me to that, I'm not sure...

hope it has a benchy feature (or at least something to gauge performance numbers), would be nice to have a mantle supported benchy out there.

25.1% faster with 7970 is not enough for them???? According to the DICE post the 7970 saw 25.1% better multiplayer performance on Shanghai map with 64 players. From 53fps it went to 67fps and from 18.87 ms/f to 15.08 ms/f.

They can clearly tweak it more later.

AMD hasn't necessarily disappointed me "that" badly (Mantle, the games it'll support in the near future, and Frame Pacing are all Windows-exclusive as I already expected, and I use Linux), but if anything, I'm never getting a muxless AMD laptop again. I don't support NVIDIA nor Intel at all, so their hardware is still out of the question (I don't buy what I don't support; both Intel and NVIDIA have done far worse things).

I'll stick with either single GPU AMD laptops, or dual-graphics ones with an actual hardware mux. AMD Muxless laptops are a total pain, and I hear NVIDIA's Optimus thing is even worse.

I wish they'd at least release the Linux 14.1 driver. I doubt that's being held up for any reason, and yet they'll probably only release it when the Windows driver is ready :/

Same feelings here. I'm not really happy of this. We waited for nothing.

Not for nothing. Just for some of us the wait will be a little longer.
