I have not played Crysis 2 yet, I will be waiting for you to complete your work Maldo... however long that may take. Great job, it's good to see someone gives a crap, even though it SHOULD have been Crytek. But they're too busy selling out to the console demographic.
The original Crysis game needed texture mods as well to look good up close as well, none of them looked as good as these texures do though, so can't wait to try this out, even if i have to live with a lower framerate. Again, much appreciated Maldo, new shots look stunning, imho the best looking textures in any game i've ever saw.
Thank you a lot. In the performance side, I have some hidden surprises. Using mod recommended custom config I can play with an average framerate of 60 fps in 1920x1200 with parallax and tesselation with only one 480gtx. There are some hitch here and there but are game related and are there without mod too. I'm working on those little pauses too. This is higher performance than ultra vanilla config, where I have near 30 fps average framerate. Obviosly it's not magic, there are some effects disabled, but those screenshots above are in recomended settings and are not ugly at all.
Respect. Is the actual game any good though? I will get it on sale even if its crap just to see all this stuff running hope you get plenty of donations maldo, with people like you pc gaming can be kept fresh and interesting
I hope Crytek takes note of what Maldo has done, seeing its just one bloke doing it in his spare time, considering the number of changes made. They could have done the textures like that in the first place, then stuffed them up for the consoles. Then later on, when the new consoles come out, they could release a hi-res update for their old games and make more money. Isn't that the main incentive for game developers, make money?!!!

Outstanding work. Crytek should hire you. When are you releasing it? Edit: Already asked this ,sorry I forgot
in some ways game devs should be a bit embarrassed by mods as projects like half life cinematic and this shows that all the fancy lighting and post process wont hide god awful textures and models
I doubt they care, they could do this in a fraction of the time if they wanted to, most just don't want to though. Low end systems, console ports and even the fact games have to be distributed digitally or kept to fit on a single DVD, are all things that put dev's off spending much time on high res textures, and unfortunately the high end is always going to be the minority. Great job on the new textures MaLDo, someone at work saw them when i was checking them out earlier, and was shocked that was from a game.
I hated the first few hours of it, then the middle and end got intresting. Try it. Not bad, nothing too spectacular either though. Bought it on sale. Textures remind me of good old CM and Crysis 1 texture and ToD mods.
I haven't read the entire thread, but are the weapons being retexturized as well? Some of the weapons looks plasticky for want of a better term.. From what I've seen though, this texture mod will undisputably make Crysis 2 the best looking game for 2011.....other than BF3
