https://www.pcgamer.com/mafia-2-def...are-out-now-free-for-owners-of-the-originals/ Early info about Mafia 1 Remaster released by Microsoft: HOLY crap
It looks like a remaster for all games. Mafia 1 will have graphics similar to Mafia 2. Mafia 2/3 will probably have just some extra features and cleanup graphic wise.
This is full on remake and I love it! I just hope they don't release a buggy mess like Mafia 3 was and is.
Mafia 1 must have the original licensed music. They were forced to take down the original game to remove it at one point. I wlll be annoyed if the original music is not restored.
Holy crap, I can't believe they actually remake Mafia 1 in modern engine! I mean, I HOPED so when the Mafia 2/3 rumor started circulating, but didn't think they would actually put in the effort (because they basically had to make a new game from scratch, other than the voices and soundtrack)! I can only hope they didn't rush it, those screenshots look awesome though.
It is looking like they have changed the voice actor of the protagonist and maybe some other voices. Not happy about that.
I loved the original game, but struggled to replay it recently and that was several years ago as well. I'm assuming any music issues will remain though, these things are usually very expensive or sometimes not even possible to get round.
This is cracking news, Mafia being the best game of the franchise with I just behind it.....i remember modding the original on pc to add different cars back in the day, it was a lot of fun.
Sounds like it got changed. But they could have touched it up too and resolved any potential licensing issues, guess we'll known soon enough.
Damn, that's not good indeed. So is not having the original soundtrack. I'm still hyped for it, but am cautious about it. It could easily end up as a half assed cash grab, let's hope it won't though!
It is, it's right in the OP. Re-Made Classic: Faithfully recreated, with expanded story, gameplay and original score. This is the Mafia you remembered and much more. Remade=Ramke
Well, if it improves the bad gunplay and awful driving of the original.... it'll be awesome. Love the first game, for it's story. But gameplay wise, it was very rough.
It's looking very similar (Though more visually polished.) to Mafia 3 so I would expect that engine and as such that type of gunplay (Which was good.) and driving. (Which I guess worked but these are 1920's cars with some - several. - artistic changes.) Hopefully whistle behind cover and press takedown is a bit toned down too and the AI isn't completely blind and also outright terrible when it comes to actually shooting but we'll see. Mafia 3's lighting and time of day can be all over the place visually and the game like so many others activates all kinds of effects and extras for the cutscenes so I was trying to find a good example but that wasn't the easiest. https://steamcommunity.com/app/360430/screenshots/?p=1&browsefilter=toprated EDIT: Mafia 3 had a decent little revenge story going too but the gamepaly loop could be very repetitive and the better than average gunplay doesn't hold through doing these few tasks over and over between major actual story advancement missions though some of these were also pretty good. And then there's Donovan being Donovan.
I really liked Mafia III, and was hoping it would open the door for a fourth title. Maybe this remaster/collection can swing those gears into motion.
