All settings maxed, no AA, PhysX High:

    Same settings, PhysX medium:

I've only run the benchmark so far, but first impressions are: Console graphics (low-res textures, especially after having just played a texture-modded Stalker:COP)) with impressive particle/PhysX effects slathered on top.

BTW - those minimum fps figures were not noticed during the benchmark - must have been a stutter/hitch.

Wow. This demo has some strange form of optimization going...
First I tried to run the integrated benchmark with full detail, AA, full Physx at full HD resolution. Rating "E", avg. of around 17fps. Then I decreased Physx to "medium", rating "D", avg. of slightly above 20fps.
Due to the small size of the demo I guess the final version will have nicer, high resolution textures, but I seriously hope the performance will be higher than this. The driver I'm using (259.12) even has a profile for this game.

Any good? How about if I haven't played the first one, will I enjoy this?

i can complain because I can't update Steam at all, even after opening the proper ports for it. They could've released manual patches, but noooo, they just had to make it an automatic update that is always problematic for me.

Never been a problem for me or any of my friends. Sucks man. You should learn about "port forwarding" if you have a router. It's ok, not everyone is good with computers.

i just said i opened the proper ports, which means i did port forwarding. Don't make me smack your balls

but anyhow, does anyone know if there will be a non-steam demo coming?

Game runs through Steam, so no, Steam only.

Have you tried closing Steam and going into the Steam folder and deleting the ".BLOB" files? After that just launch Steam and it should update...If not then oh well..

did that, along with using a regedit program to edit Blob and the regkey CallID, along with launching Windows in safe mode with networking, along with the port forwarding, along with changing encryption key length.

The only other method i can think of is if somebody is willing to upload the latest steam files. So any of you willing to help a fellow guru?

Edit: the sad thing is, before this, steam was running fine. I used it to get Portal, but starting from July, I've been unable to use steam because of this damn issue.

Interesting. As soon as I enable Physx my GPU load drops to 30-50%. No wonder it runs like crap then.

Edit: I just saw the demo installs a new Physx version and can't be started with an older one. This new Physx makes other games that use it run like crap also. What a demo.

Gotta say, despite the mediocre benchmark scores, the in-game performance is excellent. Feels just like GTA IV, but much, much smoother. My fps never dipped below 40 on max settings with high PhysX. Maybe the best PhysX implementation I've seen, with up to 54% PPU utilization observed.

Definitely a console game though...no texture setting...AA either 'on' or 'off' etc.

runs great here 1680x1050, AA on, rest max, APEX Physx medium(no visual difference between high and medium)..the benchmark it's crap, minim fps 15 but never seen that, must been a stutter or something and avg fps 30, but in gameplay my avg fps is 35-40 same settings as benchmark..
that benchmark is f*cked up, but the game is awesome loving it..

mangaroo that happens to me too, just log of and log on, and the brightness should be back to normal.

No crossfire support for this game yet? My both cores are sleeping.

    Have you tried 8.763?
Maybe with newest driver - will rock
