Yeah, what a stupid review, rating a linear game down because it does what it set out to do is just idiotic.

I think the reviewer has been brought up on too much GTA.

 

Do we know if, once the game is finished, there is a "free roam" option like in Mafia 1 ?
In wich you can drive wherever you want, and do crazy missions and get cool cars (I remember tracking an UFO or an invisible man in mafia 1 ^^).
That would be cool.

 

Haven't heard, but Free Ride Extreme was indeed quite fun. I want it back as well.

 

There will be free ride, not sure if it's confirmed anywhere but it's common sense. I mean it would be totally retarded otherwise, why bother in making a huge ass city in an open world, so I'd give it a 99.9% guaranty that the feature will be avalible.

 

just don't hope too much, else you may end up really disappointed.

and just 24 days till release. ARGH, i really can't wait for this game.

 

I'm on the exact opposite since I still didn't manage to get a new video card yet and from the recommended specs they released so time ago I think it will run like crap. :wanker:

 

we shall see, though I have a feeling that even with your GTX280 it should be able to run most of the settings maxed out if not all. But the both of us can forget about turning on Physx and APEX (especially me)

 

We were talking about Free Ride Extreme to be specific. After you beat the game you could explore the city and find all sorts of goofy and over the top missions that were entirely out of the Mafia context. Many of them unlocked cars that were equally goofy, and sometimes required to beat other missions.

 

It can run better on ATIs but trust me when PhysX is proprely put into a game, it can give you one hell of an experience.

I'm currently playing Sacred 2 because I'm overbored You should only see PhysX in that game running @ 60 fps, it's just pure awesomeness.

Cryostasis is running damn slow, sure, but the game has the best PhysX effects ever and was so mindblown that I could finish the game.

Thanks for the heads up. The trailer is pretty cool, i'm really looking forward to the release of the demo in ten days.

 

Yes I would love free ride extreme in Mafia 2 especially because in the time setting that it takes place there would likely be even more crazy cars... speaking of crazy, the Crazy Horse in Mafia was my favourite! :nerd:

 

Does anyone else think that Nvidia are getting to bogged down with tech such as PhysX and 3D and losing all the raw speed from their cards?
It just seems that if you want eye candy you buy an Nvidia, but if you want raw frame rate you buy an ATI.

 

Well when 90% of PC games released these days are console ports, raw framerate is less of an issue.

One you go past 60fps most people would rather you upped the eye candy.

 

You do realise nvidia still have the fastest card on the market, so hows that so??

 

I belive a 5970 beats a 480, so ATI has the fastest card

Nvidia has the fastest chip tho

Granted the 480gtx is the fastest single gpu card, but wound'nt it be much faster if they did'nt use PhysX tech on their cards?
Just a thought......I'm not after a debate on the old Nvidia vs ATI chestnut.

 

On some preview they said GTX 480 can't do it with all high and physx to maximum. Looks like you will need seperate GFX card just for handling physx...
