LucidLogix' Hydra system-on-chip devices may have just made the difference clear between a revolutionary breakthrough and something that is 'just' a breakthrough. The Hydra 200 SoC first used in the...

That's a shame, I was looking forward to seeing improved versions.

Needed to be on mid-range and low-end motherboards, where it might actually be used. The MSI big, expensive boards never would have seen use from this; the people that buy those motherboards are already buying cards two/three at a time.

the chip wasnt just on motherboards though. the powercolor 6870x2 used the lucid hydra chip as a pcie bridge chip. in this scenario, it works well in that it actually allows the use of 6870 trifire, and 6870 quadfire. here's a link to the quadfire test http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-geforce-stutter-crossfire,2995-7.html. but in this case, its merely there to add extra lanes and allow quadfire 6870s, its not actually running in lucid a-mode.

hopefully powercolour keep up the idea in future. would be interesting to see if someone tries to do something like that with nvidia gpus. could be an easy way to run tri SLI.

Yeah, they did no marketing for it at all. Their own fault.
