    Hi

Few days ago I bought Leadtek A400TDH Geforce 6800 128MB

I have a problem when playing Rome Total War. I have low frame rates 9 to 15 when zoom in also the game stutters from time to time dropping FPS to 5.
I used 77.50 drivers that came with the card, switched to 78.01 and finally to 81.85.
    All resulted same.

I was searching internet about it and saw that GeForce 6800 card must have >40
    fps.

I even lowered all details to medium and it acts the same. Low FPS.:(

I don't know what to do anymore any help is appreciated.

I HAD BETTER PERFORMANCE ON MEDIUM DETAILS ON MY ATI RADEON 9700 (around 30) but I like to play it on high details.
    My system:

    AthlonXP 2500+ Barton
    768MB Kingmax 400MHz memory
    A400TDH GeForce 6800
    Seagate Barracuda 80GB
    Gigabyte GA-7N400L mainboard

This is probably an issue of ATi driver leftovers. Try removing them with Driver Cleaner from www.driverheaven.net.

If it still doesn't show any improvement formatting your comp will probably be the best solution.

1st try to uninstall all your drivers indeed
    use dc in safe mode
    even delete your mobo drivers
    and reinstall all again
maybe even the best to do (if u had atin in before) reinstall windows
fresh install runs always better (but a pain in the a$$ to do )

Umm did anyone actually read his specs? Cause you missed every issue besides what probably is the problem, one word BOTTLENECK! Thats what i'm guessing, if not that, its def a driver issue. I doubt power supply can't handle a 6800nu, its not a GT or an ultra, so remember it comsumes less power, all you would probably need is a 350W, prefreably like 380+ but, i bet even a 300W would work with a 6800 vanilla.

Well, now I'm going to do a fresh install, hope that will help.
I tried Driver Cleaner and as I can notice got some minor performance but still low.
And I have MS 400 W power supply.

um no...people on these and other tech boards over exagerate cpu bottlenecks, sure it would be bottlenecked on low settings, but it wouldn't make it run poorly

I did reinstall Windows XP and the result is almost the same. I don't know what to do anymore.
    Please help.
IS IT POSSIBLE THAT SOME NEW TEXTURE RENDERING IS ON OR SOMETHING ELSE.

I REMEMBER IN KNIGHTS OF THE REPUBLIC 2 PLANET DANTOOINE WAS NOT PLAYABLE AND I FOUND SOMEWHERE THAT I HAD TO DISABLE SOME KIND OF TRIPPLE BUFFERING -NOT SURE WAS IT TRIPPLE BUFFERING BUT SOME KIND OF GRAPHIC OPTION IN PREFERENCE (NOTEPAD)

Whoom should I speak to about this (Nvidia, Leadtek, or RTW developers)

Maybe you've just set it too high? What are your exact settings in the game?

Try lowering a couple of settings. In particular you should turn off Desynchronised animations, set building detail to medium or low, Effects detail to high or medium and turn reflections and glints off.

These are the settings on my rig, which is quite a bit faster than yours:

1280x960 32 bit battlemap and 1024x768 in campaignmap.

    Anti Aliasing : Low
    Terrain Detail : High
    Building Detail : Medium
    Grass Detail : Medium
    Unit Scale : Large
    Unit Detail : Medium
    Effect Detail : High
    Vegetation detail : High

    Turned on:
    Battlemap shadows
    Campaign shadows
    Smoke/Dust
    Unit shaders

Well I tried your settings then lowering all to medium the result is the same.
I get 50 and 35 fps very rarely and it remains max for 2-3 seconds but then a huge dropdown to 20 fps, when zooming in fast I get instantly 9-10 fps in other words when moving camera is stutters from time to time (usually every 5 seconds)

Maybe it's a power supply matter after all than...or a memory bottleneck. If it's not either on of those I have no clue what it could be anymore. :(
