    I get low gpu usage while on black ops 30-40%

    Driver Version: 260.99
    Graphics = 250 GTS Geforce 512MB GDDR3
    CPU = Core 2 Duo 7500 2.9GHZ
    RAM = 2gb ddr2 800
    OS = Windows 7 Pro 32bit
    Mobo = ASUS P5N7A-VM

    Other Games:
    Starcraft 2 = 60+ fps High Settings (No Problems)
    Mafia 2 = 60+ fps High Settings (No Problems)
    FIFA 11 = 60+ fps High Settings (No Problems)
    BFBC2 = 30-40 fps High Settings (low gpu usage also)
    Just Cause 2 = 60+ fps high/mid Seetings (No Problems)
    Anyone know best driver for black ops or a way to force my gpu usage?

    Are you experiencing any really slow gameplay? Try running FRAPS and looking at your actual FPS and/or run a benchmark using it?

    cpu issue... you need a quad for it.

    Try to disable vsync. Some applications lock the FPS at (refresh rate)/2 when you can't produce enought to reach the actual refresh rate. I hate it when this happens and turn vsync off. I would be just fine if it created an uppred FPS limit instead.

    You can also try to use d3doverride to force tripple buffering on. It seems to smooth things out for me in some cases.

    he has a low end dual core, it won't be any better.

    edit:

    @maZiix

    try and overclock it to at least 3.6ghz to eliminate some of the bottleneck, im sure it wouldn't be a problem since it has 2.9ghz at default.

    To be honest I rather buy MW2 and wait for the new drivers because I can't be asked with this bull****.

    ok...

    Overclock your CPU and whatnot. Squeeze more out of it.

    i'd say its a combo of ram and cpu.

    but its also partially due to the game. the game has a 90fps cap. so your gpu load wont be maxed out if it doesnt need to be maxed out to hit 90fps.

    i'd recommend scouring ebay for a cheap core2quad if you can, or maybe a bit more ram.

    Can someone explain to me why low GPU usage matters all of a sudden, because I really don't know.

    it doesn't, but in rare cases it can limit its true potential, and if you enable vsync you can get low gpu usage too.. yea you already know that :)

    ok, for example quad core aware: BFBC2, ArmaII, Cod7 bo, Ghostbusters, Gta4, Dirt1, (2 not so much), Assassins Creed - other games using this engine, newer U3E games, latest nfs series, etc.. in all these games cpu gets the biggest impact as it renders physics + feeds gpu with all the data + other side threads like A.I, or even sound,... now if cpu runs to slow/is to weak, gpu pulls the short straw and gets underpowered.

    does that make any sense now? :loco::nerd:

    lol joke:D

    Ermm..lol

    Are you saying that if the GPU isn't running 100% it's being held up by the CPU?

    Or are u just fking w/ my mind :D

    ha, both :devil:

    lol jk :D

    but yea sometimes it is so in such games.. esp with more powerful gpus 470gtx+ and avg cpu like q6600,. it can change a little if you enable AA and other gpu bound stuff; filtering, TrAA,.

    idk how my behaves i never monitor it, well i already see if runs weird or with lower fps than usual then its either driver fault, gpu to weak or even cpu like in armaII or gta4 -although its more gpu bound well if i disable all shadows i avg at 65-85fps @ 1280x1024 (rest maxed, and 58 view, 87detail, 65 cars) or with enabled shadows 30-65fps (high normal/medium night shadows) :nerd:

    @maziix

    and you can try 263.06telsa, 260.99 are crap for 250gts..

    But if the CPU isn't running 100% then how can it be slowing down the GPU?

    And they do different types of work, so they can't be expected to have the exact same usage all the time.

    Hunter: ^^Do you find this as funny as I do? :D

    Btw, can you message me using my email addy, instead of via pm.

    Cheers.

    What's funny about that? It is as was said...GPU usage means nothing. It's about the numbers you are getting in the game. So if you see 60% usage but FRAPS says you're running 60fps (lets assume vsync) then what is the problem? There isn't one. It is natural in some games to dip lower obviously.

    I don't see what's funny though. The OP obviously doesn't understand some things that seem simple to us. It's easy to load FRAPS, check your FPS while playing and see if you really are getting lower than ideal performance.
