Rather new to the forum. I am (slowly)putting together a new system and for right now my specs are as follows:

    Motherboard: ASROCK 4COREDUAL-VSTA(BIOS 1.5)
    CPU: INTEL C2D E6600
    RAM: 2X512 DDR400 SAMSUNG(DUAL)
Video Card: SAPPHIRE ATI X850XT 256MB AGP
PSU: ULTRA V SERIES 500W PS
    Monitor: HANSOL 920A CRT
    Hard drives: MAXTOR 120GB PATA
    Optical Drives: NEC DVD-RW
    Additional PCI cards: NONE
    Number of fans present: CASE(1)
    OS: WINDOWS XP(HOME)
Video Card Drivers in Use (Control Panel or Catalyst Control Center?): CCC/7.4
    Motherboard Drivers Used: VIA_HyperionPro_XP64_XP_2K 5.10A

I am also new at running the 3dmark program and was wondering(in order to more broadly compare benchmarks)how I should have my ATI settings. Right now they are set at 3D settings/Standard Settings/Optimal Performance. My 3dmark05 settings are the default loaded with program.

After running 3dmark05 with these settings I ended up with 6514/4575 cpu

I am not into OC'ing and will eventually upgrade memory/PS/HD/Videocard(probably in that order)

Even with some outdated hardware I kind of expected(at least)an "average" score for my hardware....but it appears pretty low to me unless someone with more knowledge see's it differently.

Just trying to optimize my system for use with Flight Simulator(FS9)

    Thanks

The graphic card is VERY old and probably the weakest part of your computer. And to have that graphic card, I think the score is pretty good indeed.(becouse X850XT is a large bottleneck in 3Dmark 05)
Ps: The CPU test doesn't count in your total score.

I used to score 72xx with my old XT / Opty 170 etc, but I had my card quite highly OC'd (620/720??) cant remember, but at stock on an Opty 170 @ 2.8, I used to score around 6200, so it looks about right really!!

The score is really nice for that system of yours, but as Andrull said, your video card is holding you back.

    I score 6900p in 3DMark05 as a comparison. :)
