I am not so sure.So I made a poll for fun.

AMD 2600X Max boost clock with XFR/PBO is 4250Mhz on a couple cores

My AMD 2600X can run all core overclock 4300Mhz+ just fine,my cheap MSI X470 Motherboard has turned into an all star with all the BIOS updates.

Made Video for reference, doing encoding for 1HR plus on 20GB files each @4300Mhz and I am liking what I am seeing.

CPU max voltage for AMD 2600X 1 hour + Encode test for stability.

Ryzen 2600X All Core Overclock 4350Mhz

Ryzen 2600X 4400Mhz Default BIOS Voltage

I just game pretty much all day and encode some videos.

What would you do keep current AMD 2600X and X470 or Just say the hell with it and go X570 and 3800X or something for a couple more FPS in gaming.

♦ CPU - AMD 2600X With MasterLiquid Lite ML240L RGB AIO
    ♦ GPU - Nvidia RTX 2080
    ♦ RAM - G.Skill Trident Z 16GB DDR4(F4-4000C18D-16GTZ) (2x8@3200Mhz)
    ♦ Mobo - MSI X470 - Gaming Plus

    ♦ DSP - LG 27" 4K UHD 5ms GTG IPS LED FreeSync Gaming Monitor (27UD59P-B.AUS) - Black

Couldn't vast my vote, because the option "donate my CPU to..." wasn't available.;)

Since you encode video in h265 using NVENC the CPU doesn't matter at all.
But Ryzen 3xxx will give you a nice boost in gaming, so I voted 8 core 3xxx
    and keep the motherboard.

    Thanks for the replies.

LOL I usually do encode on CPU I was just messing with NVENC .My fault I should have posted something like this.I have to wait for reviews like others but 5-10 FPS in gaming may not do it for me.
AMD says with an extra 200Mhz overclock on boost with X570 Motherboard it may well be worth it.
I am an idiot though ,I will probably end up buying the good stuff when drinking anyway and do not even know why I am not convinced just yet to buy the new things.

Go for the 3700X or even 3800X if you have a good enough mobo (but you did say it was a cheap one). Since you already have the RAM and mobo it's a no brainer.

Yes that seems like the logical way to go.As I get older just buying the better option for little gain just does not sell to me any more. 4K Freesync Monitor does well with gaming as of today but hey maybe an extra few % will help in that department.
    Thanks for the reply

Damm I made my choice.New CPU's is no faster than what I have now in gaming OH well I knew this already.
One thing I can say plain old Ryzen 3600 is the exact same price of my 2600X I bought a year ago.
Keep AMD 2600X and MSI X470 Gaming Plus

I am an idiot , Looking at reviews all day ,for 15 + hours.
It was like a crack cocaine addiction,it was too much for me to handle. I did not buy 1 Ryzen 5 3600X I bought 2 Ryzen 5 3600X one from Newegg Canada and one from Amazon Canada.
I have no will power,I suck bad at this. Fu AMD Just Fu you won again, well played.

Same boat here with 2600 though. I play at 1440p, so i'm not sure if it's a worthy upgrade as i'm now more GPU dependent.

It is not worth it all all.I will be running RTX 2080 on either Freesync 4K 60Hz or Freesync 144Hz not sure which one yet as daily gaming machine.

Sad part is I really did buy 2 AMD 3600X. lol I really decided weeks ago I would not do it.Well at least I did not buy 2 AMD 3900X now that would be next level meth addiction.

Well as long as I send the shitty one to you,I am keeping the best 4400Mhz All core clocker. Well my 2600X can do 4400Mhz but no one would want the second prize beauty queen.

 LOL you suck more than me because you were warned it is not worth it.

I paid for express shipping Sunday night and neither Newegg or Amazon shipped yet.I am going to just go to local computer store in the morning if they have any stock left by now and pick up one.
All the 3600X reviews I watched was good enough to convince me to grab it.

I would say only upgrade if you game at 1080p (and now even then...maybe), or if you have very high CPU loads, and you need the speed. Otherwise stay with what you have.

I am on 2700x here, and game only at 4k, so will do the same. Maybe I will need to upgrade in like 4 years or so.

PS: I do get that "itch" to buy the 3800X myself, hopefully I will resist it....well for a couple of months at least lol :D

Personally I'd wait till the 1.0.0.4 agesa is out for your motherboard of choice. There seems to be issues with boosting with earlier versions.

There are boosting problems from some reviews but not all, looks like hit and miss. Not worried at all ,plus with this Cheap MSI X470 Motherboard ,it is a fracking champ of motherboards.

    I have a 4K monitor and I do not always game @4K.
I fell for 4K's ugly sister ,who turned into a fracking babe 3440x1440. LOL the itch is the only reason I bought a AMD Ryzen 5 3600X.
Plus I watched some video,I just wanted the 3600X.
