I have been trying to get lossless recordings to work but it is a stutter fest and I do not know why.

    64bit programs installed and enabled
    12 thread enabled
tried auto and 8 thread compressions and neither made a difference
    UtVideo RGB VCM
    AVI
    100% quality
    full frame
tired 30 and 60FPS (30FPS has less drop frames in hanger bay but doesnt matter for in game play)

what is the 2x-4.6x I see in the overlay? I assume the latency is frame times?

Why can't I get lossless recordings to work well?

-Lossless Recordings are on a 2x3TB RAID 0(~350MBps write speeds) I have also tried the SSD which results in the same stutter/drop frames).
-My CPU is not maxed or even sweating (20-40% usage).
    -Trying to record War Thunder/NS2
-Recording War Thunder hanger bay screen results in a halfway decent recording frame rate in recording. lots of drops but hits 30-60FPS in actual recording.
-Recording War Thunder in game I get like 1-5FPS of actual recordings.
-In game FPS is 100-120 FPS at all times. GPU is usually always loaded but CPU is just 15-40%

It feels like the recording is single thread and not maxing my CPU.

I want lossless recordings because 4:2:0 chroma drives me insane. I plan on using a custom H.264/265 encoder (handbrake does not support 4:4:4 chroma and devs said they wont be adding it) so later on I can encode it at 4:4:4 chroma with slow presets resulting in not 150MBps bit rate but more like 20MBps bit rate which is easy for me to store given my space and will result in near lossless quality.

Does Dxtory actually work for lossless recordings?

    System specs:
    -4.2GHz 1650v3
    -64GB of ECC DDR4 RAM
-480GB Sandisk Extreme Pro for OS
    -SnapRAID
    All HDD 7200RPM
    5x6TB Parity
    7x(2x3TB RAID0) data
    2x6TB data drives
-Lossless Recordings are on a 2x3TB RAID 0(~350MBps write speeds)
-10GbE Intel NIC (WIP still on 1GbE)
    -980TI (1450Mhz)
    -Win7 64 OS
    -Norco 4224 case
    -EK Predator 360 cooler
    -LG BD drive
    -EVGA 850P2
    -Tripplite 240v UPS

Typically that's related to system IO / capacity and bottlenecks. Likely your write performance is too low. Can you make a ramdisk and write to that to see what happens?

Grabbing 2560x1440 @ 60 FPS already reaches ~450 MB/sec writes on my FCAT setup.

I can try that tomorrow when I wake up. But I tried SSD AND no better.

Also I see 1300Mbps when I do hanger bay but in mission it drops to 300Mbps

That leads me to believe it isn't a write issue.

I also plan on tomorrow to try forcing high priority in task manager. I heard that helps when people use OBS

Give it a go ... in my experience, it always has been IO being the bottleneck in complex workloads, and AVI:Lossless certainly is that. I remember at the time, even a RAID-enabled Revodrive caused weird spikes.

Also, doublecheck your configuration, choose the right encoder (in your case NV12), max out your framerate slider and make sure framerate limit is disabled.

    What is your capture resolution?

    Works on my end.

AVI recording -> 20 seconds 1920x1080 results in over 6 GB of writes, so that's already ~300 MB/s of writes = ~2400 Mbit/s. This was recorded on a SATA3 SSD.

    why nv12?

I want UtVideo RGB. It offers compressed full quality.

Nope that did not work. I used a 30GB RamDisk and it worked better but still didnt record smoothly in game play.

I'll post Dropbox link to original files when they finish uploading so you can view it and tell me what is wrong.

Screen shots of settings are in the folder and 2 test videos. It will be uploaded in about an hour or 2.

I have no experience with UtVideo RGB as I never had a need for it. So I cannot comment on that.

You really want to do HW encoding over a GPU (NV12) or processor encoder (quicksync) as is it is faster by an incredible scale. Did you even try the NV encoder? I mean lossless is lossless no matter what encoder you prefer.

Other than that I'm afraid I have no suggestions for you left.

Btw you have FPS forced at 60 FPS, as suggested earlier, max it out.

does the NV12 support 4:4:4 chroma in riva tuner? Because Shadow play and OBS are both 4:2:0

    K I will change that

Dunno 4 sure but doubt it, trial & error is the way to approach here.

Well nv12 recorded much fasster but its a horrific bit rate lol and hurts GPU performance as well.

When I play the video in MPCx64 I hear audio but see no video. Do I need a special codec to watch it on MPC?

    3.6Gbps o_O

Says YUV color space so is that full RGB or limited RGB?
Is that 4:4:4 chroma or what?
This will require 4x7200RPM drives in a RAID and maybe a fast cache drive.
    Realistically, I'll use 2xMX300 1TB drives in RAID 0
    That should work.

EDIT: yep its 4:2:0 chroma :(
Also VLC can play this. Not sure why MPC cant.

Switch to external plugin NVENC and hit configuration. Anyway, this is as much far as I can help you. Plenty of options and tricks to find and tweak. Best of luck.

thanks for the help. Looks like i'll have to try DXtory or MagicYUV out since I can't get 4:4:4 chroma in this to work. NVEC supports 4:4:4 chroma but no one seems to have enabled it or cares to. :/

I noticed you are a staff member...not sure what that means but wanted to ask. Is there any likelihood that guru3D would add lossless 4:4:4 chroma support got NVEC?
