I'm in the market for a new monitor 27 to 32", 1080p, under 4 ms response,. For my computer and in the future if possible a xbox 360.

    Any suggestions would be great!

I was looking at both of those myself and I also like that LG one.

But I was wondering how I would hook up the 360 to the LG. I know xbox has a VGA HD cable. But what would the quality be from a VGA cable? Compared to say the component xbox cable.

It says the LG has HDMI, so should be fine unless that is a typo, if it is then just use a HDMI-DVI cable.

VGA would be better than component though.

How would I get sound to my speakers if I used a HDMI cable?

What speakers are you using, there are several ways.

Either passthrough from the monitor, or optical or analog RCA from the 360.

Oh I see the xbox 360 has a RCA connection on the HDMI cable.
Unless I'm wrong the LG only has one HDMI port. So how could I do passthough from the monitor?

I've got the Logitech Z-5300e which comes with a RCA adapter so I can go that way.

Yeah, if you have the elite it comes with plenty of cabling options, though you won't get proper 5.1, but im guessing you already know that.

Most monitors have either RCA/3.5mm out, or optical out for that purpose.

Yeah at some point I'd like to get a nice Onkyo system. Then I'd be in business.

That's a nicely speced tv but unfortunately too large for my use and also a tv. I'm looking for a 27 to 32" monitor. That's also probably a couple grand and I don't have that kind of money.

LED TV's scare me, i saw one a few months back, far too slim.

I'm a clumsy idiot, i would break it, image quality is alot better than conventional LCD's though.

LCD TFT usually refers to the panel or the entire monitor, and never really the backlight. Both LED-based and CCFL-based monitors can be called "LCDs", as the term itself does not specify which backlight technology is being used. Current-gen LED backlighting is generally superior to older CCFL offerings.

Its nothing like that, while its not OLED, the image quality is far better than standard LCD, even a cheap LED lit TV, blows away a high end LCD.

People love to call stuff marketing tricks when they only half half the info.

If you look at the top of the page you can select the size you like, and the smallest one is 32". And its half as much as I payed for my 37" a year and a half ago :( (not even LED backlit).
