Didnt know it was old news.
There won't be custom PCB Titans. All Titans are the same except for the cooler. Ryan @ Anadtech confirmed it after talking to Nvidia.
Nvidia does not allow custom PCB for Titans. However, vendors can use different/custom cooler.
If you can sell your 690 at a decent price, I think it's worth it.
Having used both 690 and Titan, I'd choose a single Titan over a 690 any day of the week.
If i wanted to i could buy 4 of these Titans tomorrow and SLI all of them on Custom water but for what?
To get higher benchmarks? No thanks. Im not really a bencher, More of a hardcore gamer.
The 690 plays 99% of games out there perfectly and at the moment outperforms the Titan.
Its pointless to upgrade as its isnt and upgrade its a sidegrade at best.
Ill wait until a more worthwhile upgrade comes along and more importantly the games demand it.
think a 690 or 2 680 are a bit faster than a single titan
Don't get me wrong. 690 was a nice card. I loved it while I was using a pair from May 2012 to Feb 2013.
But with a single GPU Titan, it performs as good as a dual-GPU 690. Less heat, less power consumption. And 6GB frame buffer which I find very useful with downsampling/OGSSAA and SGSSAA. No brainer, IMO. 2GB frame buffer was a major drawback of 690 for me.
BTW, I'm not really a bencher, either.
Whats good software for tweaking the fan?
MSI Afterburner and EVGA Precision X
These things play vantage very well
2600k 5.0 card 1150 mostly
Ok OK i played a game too jeez.
You attached a Corsair H70 to your Titan ?!?! im i righT?:eek3:
Really need a pic of that cowie !
These cards are crazy. I played Borderlands 2 @ stock GPU settings, (1047mhz boost) it didn't get over 50C and it was smooth as silk. Nary a stutter even in the worst PhysX areas. Beats the crap out of my SLI 580's with a 570 for PhysX. On the other hand, If I had a GTX 690 or SLI 670/680 this wouldn't be an upgrade.
You guys all are boosting high!. @ stock GPU my Titan boosts around 975Mhz. With +125 on GPU its around 1085Mhz.
<-- Change your Sig man !
Anyone else get no SLI scaling (infact decrease in perf.) with firestrike?
Guys please excuse me the slight off topic question.
I sold my Palit 680 JS. Well its gonna be picked up in a couple days(fingers crossed).
So guys I need you benchmarking/gaming expertise's. Which 680 is the fastest in gaming/benchmarking?
My pick would be the Lightning with the 3A Bios but I think I read some problems with them lately. Not problems with the 3A bios but in general. I always wanted a 680 Lightning.
Is there any other 680/670 that comes close to Gaming performance(avg FPS) to the Lighting?
Or should I just get a Giga/Palit/Evga/POV 680 4GB for the price of a 2GB DC2/Lightning?
Or just get a 1300Mhz GTX 670 2/4GB? Giga/Evga etc.?
i been reading folks with 670 find crysis 3 difficult to tame, so at least get 680.
my pick of the 680s is the classy.
Even more off topic, are you really selling a (nice) 680 to buy another 680?
My Palit(which I love dearly and served me well) barely runs Heaven/Valley at 1230-1235Mhz... Barely. Also Crysis 3 was crashing even 1228Mhz if I remember correctly.
I would trade/change it for a 1350-1500Mhz DC2/Lightning any day.
And if you take a close look I also mentioned the 670. That would also save me a couple bucks.
I'm unbiased and open for options.
OK but with the lightning at the figures you said, you're looking at 5%-20% gain and I'm really sceptical about that 1500mhz. Are you going to be putting it on water?
Otherwise I think 1350 is about tops for a lightning isn't it?
If money is a consideration, perhaps a 7970 is the way forwards?
I'm been eying the Lightning for a while. 7970 is in the scope too. I need to find good clockers tho like those Diamonds etc.
Anw back on topic. I was trying to avoid it but I should probably make a new thread for this anyway.
And how does it run compared to lets say 2x 570GTX?
